I was interested in a provider visiting in a few weeks. Unfortunately she does not accept RS2K for screening. I'm disappointed, certainly not upset with her....after all it's her preference. My questions are for my fellow hobbyists......When a provider doesn't accept RS2K what do you do? It is the most commonly accepted way of screening in IL.......do you provide the references of other providers to accommodate her even after you paid for the membership so you could avoid situations like this, or do just simply move on? Do you encourage her to accept members of RS2k? Just wanted to get an idea of what others think, that's all.
One visitor even went so far as to ask me why hobbyists think they're in just because they belong to a screening service. Many visitors aren't members of one or more of the screening services and may not be members of any of them. She can't access your info if she's not a member. Paying for a membership at any of these services doesn't guarantee you a visit but it does make it easier for new hobbyists to get your foot in the door.
My advice is to either move on or give her the information she requests if you really want to see her. I would advise against "educating" a provider about her screening practices. Understand that the way she screens is what makes her feel comfortable so telling her she should do it another way is a good way to never see her.
Over time, as you build a good reputation, write reviews, and build a white list, things will get easier.
Yes, I finally got RS2K but it's actually my backup method. Maybe I just prefer travelers, but with many I can get away with giving much less information about myself by just giving references.
Information needed for RS2K: my full name, city of residence, hobby phone number, hobby email (because that's how I contact providers)
Information needed by giving references: usually just my first name, something that will jog provider's memory, provider's name and contact info, my hobby phone number, my hobby email address.
If you assume that ladies keep any sort of information about you, what type of information would you rather have kept about yourself? Yes, RS2K is nice and convenient. But, the less personal information about me is out there the better.
Besides, if you've had some good experiences why is it such a big deal to give out references? I've never had a lady refuse to be one when I asked.

MOVE ON, I won't waste my time doing anything else.

I joined RS2K & DateCheck for a couple of reasons including to avoid having to give out personal info to every provider that I wish to see and being a part-time hobbyist, I can't always rely on references from providers. Many providers will only give references, if you've seen them within the past 6-12 months. In my case, the statue of limitation always seems to run out ...LOL. So, I've found DateCheck to be a good backup to RS2K, especially when I'm traveling to the west coast. So far, all of the providers that I've seen either accepted one or the other.
