Guys don't want to have to pay for parking if they can avoid it. And the cost of the hotel is generally more in the downtown area so her overhead might be more than she actually makes while she is here if she isn't booked up every day.
A three-four-star hotel room costs 50-100 more per night downtown than in the suburbs/at O'Hare.
My guess, also, is that there are more married, white-collar-job-men working and living, or at least living in the 'burbs than downtown. Lots of corporations also have office complexes in Ohare-town/the Oak Brook/Lombard/Shaumberg/etc. area...so business travel is also concentrated in those areas.
And those married men and business travelers have got a heck-of-a-lot-less to do in the 'burbs than in the loop.
