I'm reluctant to use services like RS2K as inquiring about my employment may raise some red flags at my work.  How exactly do they go about the necessary check without putting one at risk?  What's been others experience?  Thanks.

this is a painless experience
they are professional
they do not announce themselves as rs2k when they call
they simply ask to speak with you at work. It is a simple check to verify you
trust me, no one will ever know it happened

Very painless, you wont even know you been verified. You'll be glad you did.

could raise suspicion with some employers. My current employer does not verify employment inquiries from the general public and will not route a call to the employee's extension without good reason (e.g, an emegency). The reasoning is that if you have valid business with the employee, you already know their number. If not, privacy of the employee takes precedence.

I wish more businesses had this attitude.

Email Cathy... I had all those same concerns and I took the plunge. RS2K is actually not some hidden organization. She'll actually reply to your message. Email RS2K and voice your concerns.

Why would they call your employer and say "Good afternoon.  I represent Room Service 2000, an organization that verifies individuals who wish to patronize prostitutes. Is Mr. Finbar there"?  They can, and do simply ask anonomously, (just as one of your friends, or family members may do) if they can speak with you.  If you work for the police department, or District Attorney's office, maybe they make an exception.
