RS2K

new here and am questioning the process on RS2K.  I have searched and found the pros and cons but am now wondering if people on here are photographing or scanning a copy of their drivers license to the Verification company?  they have asked to have it scanned and sent to them after I have already filled out the application.  They already have enough info as far as I can tell but I am wondering if all the the members on RS2K are doing this.  This seems a bit over the top and a great database for Identity Theft.

any thoughts appreciated

I posted this in the "legal corner" board and got no responses

Yes, it my see like a lot, but it for your protection as well as the providers. There too much going on in this industry with LE (probably not in Chicago, but where I'm based at it is). They have been around for a long time and I have NEVER heard of anyone's information being used. P411, Date-Check and RS2k are reputable verification sites.

After you provide RS2K info they request you should have NO problem booking a provider. Based on some provider's screening process they require the same info as the screening sites do, so I feel it best you provide your info to the verification site

ONLY guys with zero references had to provide real info to these sites, but on RS2K you have to up that info no matter what, which is why I declined.

all verification websites do require this, yes it is safe, it makes the process much more simple for the gents and the ladies, little fyi.. most ladies still do require more info even though you sign up for r2sk , just because we don't screen you ourselves..

They don't play games and are very professional.

I've been a member since 99-2000

RS2K won't steal your identity, they're very above board but giving ANYONE your driver's license is asking for trouble. Think with your big head.

I remember years ago when I set up verification on RS2K...I had to send in a copy of my drivers license even. I of course did so, as RS2K has been such a well respected institution since the early 90's.

I ask to SEE drivers license when a client walks in to his appointment, which is a common practice with companions.
1.) because please don't lie to me...if you're name is Jim Bob, that's what your ID better say too.
2.) shady guys might share or steal someone's verification membership info...I want to make sure it all matches up

Instead of looking for someone with 50 "OK's you're better off with RS2K where only one individual is there for you to share your identity with , where your number is important being the same as you register with , and the site has earned its reputation for security. I feel much safer knowing my verification is coming from my town and not somewhere in another country where laws differ. In my opinion , it is the most professional I've witnessed .

Different laws are what protect you. What's to stop this person in town from being intimidated?

I've never shown my DL and I've seen more than 60 providers so I wouldn't say it's a common practice. More correctly, some providers do require a DL but if I was ever asked to show mine after she had let me in the door, I'd walk out. I don't know who you are and you don't need to know who I am although I can see why you'd want such information. Problem is, there are unscrupulous providers who do nefarious things with DL info and knowing who's honest and who's a potential blackmailer is pretty much impossible the first time you're meeting someone.

So Olivia, all I can say is that if you want to see my DL to prove I'm really who I say I am, I want to see your DL to prove you're really who you say you are. How do I know you're not LE if we've never met before? There aren't only shady guys but also shady ladies who B & S. In reality, I know you're not shady based on your reputation and you should know I'm not shady based on mine. That's why we research each other ahead of time. Demanding a DL means you don't trust the guy which implies you didn't research him very well as in calling his references and maybe even other providers he's seen who he didn't give as references.

OK, the point of all this wasn't to be argumentative, I'm just pointing out why guys like me won't show their DL's and avoid providers who insist on seeing a DL. What makes you feel safe makes us feel unsafe so it's a fine balancing act between each of our comfort levels before a meeting actually takes place. IMO, asking to see my DL means you don't trust me and that would definitely ruin the mood for me. I'd never see a provider who doesn't trust me, it's not worth my time nor my money. If a provider isn't comfortable with me, I don't pursue the appt and request that screening be terminated. End of story. No worries, I won't ask to see you :-)

Once a guy is alone in a room behind a locked door, there is no point in asking for his ID after the fact. You are either in hand cuffs or about to be robbed or killed at that point. Now, a public meeting to do that...sure, I can get that because she can easily tell him to fk off and go about her business. If I am not already sure the guy I am meeting is the one I screened, there will be NO meeting.

No one keeps LR quiet, LOL. But you're right, once he's in the door it's too late to stop anything that's about to go wrong. You need to be sure BEFORE you let him in, not sure how that would work...

I've never met a provider in public for a first meeting (not here in Chicago anyway but definitely in Vegas) although that's the way it's done in sugarland and it seems to work pretty well. Most providers don't want to waste time meeting someone in public if it's not gonna result in $$$$ immediately, they think of it as wasting time. Things are sure different in sugarland.

did not have to furnish copy of license back then,  have nothing but GREAT things to say about RS2K , but won't furnish anyone a copy of DL , I always have the DL ready to let the provider check it if they choose

I also joined ca. 2003 and was never asked for a copy of my DL.  I've never had any problems with RS2K, but I wonder if they revised their verification methods for new members or perhaps they just need an extra source of personal info for certain applicants

I am a member of both P411 and Date-Check and have over 30 OK's/recommendations on each. I never had to provide a copy of DL, and probably would not have joined had they asked. Depending on your circumstances, you need to keep your hobby world and real life as separate as you can.

These sites are vulnerable to cyber attacks to get identity/credit card information. Less likely the identity theft will get reported since these companies support what is largely illicit activity in the US. And most are hosted outside the US, which makes them vulnerable to other probing/scanning/monitoring.

Hobby safe, including your identity.
