I read wth sadness that The Jones Report is going to be a paid site.  This is too bad, it was a useful resource that willbe missed.  Through it, I was able to meet the devine Dr. Rose!

There was alot of useful information and that kind of forum is necessary.

I am interested in many of the old members will be joining.

I would have re-joined, and maybe even paid... but $350 a year??! And there's no free option... and he doesn't have a review database... I trust Mr. J, but I'm supposed to send a blank money order for $350 out into the void? Me thinks not.

I will definitely miss it, but it's too rich for my blood. With other resources out there for considerably less, $350 gets me another provider...

Except for invited guests - who are in for free - I think it's dead.  But, would be interested if any ladies are going to pay to post, and if so, why?

I was an infrequent poster on the old site and I won't be registering for the new site.  There was too much drama on that board. It was down at the end of last year and then it came back for 2003 and no one was banned, then more providers were banned, then there was a vague threat to "shut TJR down" from some formerly banned providers who snuck back onto the board,  then there was a lot of hand-wringing and boo-hooing about whether the site should stay open and then a lot of supporters replied with their own threats.  It finally played itself out, and, "Surprise!", all problems will be solved by becoming a pay site.

The site was useful for free, but I can read ads on other sites (a couple I already pay for) and I just can't see spending more money in order to read posts from regulars who brag about the parties that most of us didn't attend or rave about their "favorite provider" in order to curry favor with them.  I wish TJR luck.  They'll do fine without me.

Yep it was a bragfest for the select few "special" people. how can someone justify charging for what he is giving which amounts to nothing but personal satisfaction. even if you dont pay here you get more info that is useful. i spoke with a provider who also said they wouldnt be involved in the "new" TJR. good luck mr jones i thinks your band might have played its last tune

I too used to frequent that board but they always made it clear that I was not one of the "chosen few". Then there's the little clique club "The Board Room" for special friends. Enough is enough.

I'm not a heavy duty poster. & a simple search will show that I'm not really into advertising. So, what would the incentive be for me?

I thought it was an interesting board. But, it was limiting. I'd much rather have a giant board like this to surf around in. & this one & others like it are worth the $. But, not a small local board w/a clique (that I might add, does not include me).

I personally was never offended by all the bragging about parties. I wouldn't have been able to go anyhow, seeing as I do have to get up early in the morning. I did however think the bragging was done in bad taste. But, who am I to throw rocks? To each their own.

I wish Mr. Jones & his merry band the best of luck & adventures. I on the other hand will resume my surfing at more friendly sites.

Take care,

Lisa :)

Mr. Jones is doing the work running the board and he has every right to charge whatever he sees fit, and we have the right to not pay and go elsewhere.

I will miss the board, I enjoyed it immensly.  As far as the banned providers, I was glad they were banned.  I was a faithful follower of TJR adn TBD and frankly, I liked TJR better.  The accusations that it was run by a provider trying to get more business was just a farce!

I will say now though that the agenda might have changed.  $35 a month for a discussion board??  I don't see the benefits as worthwhile.  I only became a paid member here for the reviews, and I notice they've been becoming scant.  Ever notice how a review dated 2/27 shows up again on 3/4???  I don't think that's too honest either.

It seems to me like it's becoming more of a hassle to enjoy the hobby than not to.  It sucked paying for reviews and now I would have to pay for normal discussion... with this economy???  Nope, not going to do it.

I actively submit reviews (had one approved just today) and whether you think they are scant or not, the TER Review data base offers a consistent format (which is helps tremendously), is much easier to access than the subject forum of this thread, and offers vastly more timly information than posting a message ISO and waiting for responses or searching a bunch of posts.

For those who use boards as a info resource rather than a social life, we may fare better if TJR activity spills over to other sites like TER and TBD.  One less place for us to search if the same info gets posted here.

I like TJR, and hate to see it go membership at those high rates because I (and most others) won't pay $350 for a discusion board and chat room. Maybe thats his intentions...have less people but charge them high fees.  I'm sure those that go to the TJR parties will pay seeing as they have so much fun at those parties. Like an on line version of Caddyshack...keep the prices high so the Rodney Dangerfields of the neighborhood won't want to join!

Just a thought, not sure if thats the case or not.

I will miss it too... I liked that people (not just providers) who consistently flammed, etc. were banned. It helped keep the board on track... not always, but some...

However, like you said, with $35 a month the charge for just discussion, hardly seems worth it...

I know I won't be paying to post. I think it's crazy to expect people to pay for a discussion board. I think Mr. Jones is going to realize he made a mistake.....he'll open the board back up to the public within a month....I'm betting on it. Nobody is going to want to pay.

It's sad the TJR is a pay site. I checked it out to see what the price was. $350/year! That is way out of line. It seems with that kind of price not much will be going.

The only problem is that Jones tries (and sometimes convinces guys)that he has an inside scoop on some favorite ladies.  But, if you go to the board room (a few guys will give you access) they're all the same.  A very small industry/hobby.  Don't really know what his purpose is but he seems to have lost it!?!

I agree, I don't think this is just a money making venture.  I think the fee is meant to keep out those of us who aren't special enough to hang out with the "cool kids".  I don't think the regulars will have to pay.  There's an invitation only section which I'm guessing will be populated with the partygoers and they won't be charged.  The rest of us will have to spend time where we're wanted, like here.

Very sad to see it go.  Where do I find all the great providers on that report.  Looking for Michelle and Dr. Rose.

Looks like you might be right... the board was closed as of midnight 3/12/03...

seemed goofy the prices he wanted (like everyone else said)...

Guess we can only wait and see.

Plus, I think that some of these people were correct about the "private" parties but mentioning them--low class unless you wanted to invite them all and you could have had people screened if that was a problem...
