I lived in Vancouver during the 90s, when the city was  in the process of decriminalizing (big diff from making things legal) both prostitution and marijuana.  The professor behind the prostitution issue was British, and he used a lot of research from Europe, esp. Amsterdam, to site safety issues.  I think they figures there were 15-20,000 women working part time out of their homes, plus the "strolls", both in the heart of the city and the lower end tracks on the periphery, such as the East End this article refers to.

IMO, it is completely ridiculous to monitor what two consenting adults do behind closed doors.
The gov. says it's ok to put myself on Match.com and have random sex with strangers for free, but it's illegal to operate, for compensation, through a similar website?

I'm a grown woman who is in complete control of her life.  A little respect, please!

Done venting

But Canada is getting there!

Even with politician smoking crack, they are getting stuff done!

Two guys washed up to shore on a canoe, looked around and saw nobody…
"Well, I guess it's ours. What should we name it?"
"I don't know." *takes his wet hat off* "Let's draw letters out of a hat."
He scribbled some letters on some chips of wood from coal he had in the canoe
"You pick, I'll read."
Second guy picks.
"C, 'eh"
Draws second letter.
"N, 'eh"
Third letter,
"D, 'eh"
