that is why I like to read the posts to see who I agree and can laugh and have a good time onthe board with or some one i stay away from, you can tell a lot from what someone writes.

I do appreciate those men who do look out for everyone, they let us know the bad eggs so to speak.
they do seem to take the board in a very serious way and help a lot of ppl!

Can people no longer write their thoughts? Instead, it's post a YouTube without much of a preface; then it's "I'll match your YouTube and raise you one."

Yes, I do avoid clicking on any YouTube url's, thank you for asking. It's just that I'd rather read what people think.

OK, I'm done.

I tired of it myself.  I won't even open the messages anymore.  If you got something to say, don't use music to say it, put your thoughts to print.

Some people are treating TER like it is Facebook and Myspace.  No offense folks, but I check out TER for info and discussion of the hobby.  I don't come here to click on music videos, to read bad jokes, or to hear about your personal issues.  There are many folks whose posts I simply avoid clicking on because they add no value to the board.  If this is the route the Chicago board continues to take, so be it.  Kinda sad if you ask me.

CTP is correct, this is not my space or facebook. We all know it is an attempt to get around the posting rules for one particular provider and agency.

every time there name comes up or a subject that is specific to them you feel the need to take a shot at them. Just a thought

On the other hand, that's what free choice is all about.

CTP wrote: "There are many folks whose posts I simply avoid clicking on because they add no value to the board." There are others who enjoy the music or humor or banter that goes on.

Instead of campaigning to eliminate that which YOU find of no value, please just continue to avoid clicking, without bitching about it. Let those who like such posts continue to click where they may.

Happy New Year!

I agree if you "know" you won't enjoy it avoid it! If yousee a pot of boiling water, you don't stick your finger in it...but then some ppl!

I enjoy reading some of the jokes/youtube but some are just lame but still I'd rather see that then some of the drama and scammers who bring bull sogna to the board.

Not sure why we have all the youtube videos put up here and why the posters of them think anyone is interested. I'm sure no one gives a crap about my musical preferences. Plus, this board is The Erotic Review, not The Music Video Review.

When you post a personal thought or feeling it declares open season on you.  They love to preach about this board being about "Fucking" and feel there is no room for any other post.   Posting a joke, utube, or funny picture allows some to express themselves on the board with some degree of insulation from those quick to lash out at post.  IMHO

TER recognizes people's desire to express themselves, which is why they created the humor, sports, politics, meet n greet and legal discussion forums.  There is also an entire general discussion board for a wide variety of topics.

The ideas behind the regional boards was to stream line hobby specific information of a specific part of the country.  If people can discipline themselves to post in the appropriate sections, then TER is a great asset to everyone.  But when people get lazy and post everything they think about in one area, then TER becomes pretty useless.

So no one is preaching about what this board is supposed to be about, they are simply suggesting you follow TER guidelines and post your thoughts with some degree of organization. After all, its not rocket science and no one is asking for you give up your right leg.

Just don't give the impression of being lazy... if you want to share a funny cartoon, post in the humor board. If you want to discuss Obama's health care plan, post it in the politics board.  If you want to ask providers how they like their clients to prepare for a session, ask in the general discussion forum.

But if you want to know where you can find a spinner who provides greek in Schaumburg, then ask about it here.

'communication' takes many forms...

sometimes people want to use other 'things' to express the way they currently feel, etc...

this in turn may spark additional conversation...

all ending with everyone gaining insight to/about others - especially the ladies.

I too avoid some posters, some I look forward too.

Be careful when you complain about what people choose to post - they may decided to post elsewhere... then what will be left of this place??

I also spend time on motorcycle boards and, damn, if people aren't starting to post YouTube crap there, too. I mean, it's one thing to post a YouTube of a ride thru Deal's Gap in the Smoky Mountains.

Ah, well. I don't mean to be such a curmudgeon. Thanks for taking time to give such a thoughtful reply.

I enjoy the many different perspectives on the TER Board. I know how to switch channels or read various publications as well. Variety is the spice of my life.

Happy New Year to All!

There is a woman who posts on here and has added LOTS of life to this place. That can't be denied by anyone who has been around for a while.

Highandtight has been referenced quite a few times over the last several months, here and elsewhere, and he would have had a ball with Giselle. He would have loved her, and her contributions to this place. How do I know this? Because he was drawn to magnetic personalities like her's. He knew a good thing when he saw it, as many of us do.

After meeting her and talking with her...I can report that she is genuine. It'd be a shame if this board lost her contributions.
JMHO

when this board was much more civil. As a frequent lurker I rarely post, but I do try to keep up with Chicago daily whenever I can. I've seen what a truly nasty board can be like (Vegas was really ugly not so long ago) and thought how great our board was.

I'll click on almost every post, if there's a link that doesn't seem interesting I go back and don't waste my time. BUT, I respect everyone's right to post anything as long as it is not personally insulting or has no 'hobby-value'.

I like most of the jokes, I seem to remember a certain much-loved member whose jokes we all loved and certainly miss. I can't recall any complaints there.

If a youtube expresses something of interest (to anyone) the right is there - to post and also for us not to click the link.

Brainless, boorish, and pettiness is rewarded. If you want true discourse, you'd have to make up a place different from here. The only problem I see if you can't disagree with anyone about anything  you get attacked. Many of the Chicago members get real touchy rather than take things in stride. There are a few rules here and that's good, but gone is any level of discourse about the scene, the trends, and what's unique about the community. Dare to make a tongue in cheek joke, you get moderated. Ask an innocent question, someone takes it as a sharp stick in the eye. If you want thoughtful and interesting information about the hobby, you can always blog, I guess.

I posted a humorous joke on the GD board a couple of months ago and ended up permanently moderated. Funny thing is, the Chicago moderator at the time thought it was really funny himself and didn't understand why I got moderated for it. As things go on the GD board, my joke was mild by comparison. So here we sit complaining about youtube links being posted but it appears they're relatively safe from being yanked by the moderators. Say anything of significance or attempt to crack a joke, and you get moderated. What's the point in even posting?

I would much rather see people post and leave the decision to click on a post to us then to not post at all leaving a boring board that frequently moves no more then several threads in several days.
If people want to post please don't scare them into "I am going to get moderated" frame of mind.  If posting rules are followed and honest mistakes are pointed out by the poster or pointed out by the moderators i see no real danger of posting if your worry is moderation.IHMO

DOC, you are bit of a white-knight and that is your right. People post to give a point of view. It's sad when words are perceived as so piercing that someone goes home and cries or thinks they are being attacked. Sometimes, calling shit out as silly or frivolous is good and healthy for a board. If the injured poster cries foul, then jump in if you feel you must.

When you can agree to disagree there's the middle ground. When you and others think that you need to jump to the aid of a poster because you think that he or she has been wronged, that is the beginning of board censorship and the resultant flame wars. If someone goes out of his or her way to bash, abuse, and curse a poster then that is grounds for moderation and in the boundaries of rules. Else, you have mob-rule and nothing more.
