I second this^^^^^^
One of the reasons I bought a house on the Lake. Great Riding to be found especially mid week. I know I will get heat for this comment, but sorry I can't get into the Harley thing. Please at some time try a BMW (I ride an R1200GS) or even a Victory, far better bikes.

Go up rt-47...It becomes wisc.120.... ..follow up to lakeshore dr. can use to go around lake.....was great!
Any suggestion from riders out there on certain roads to go on .... Looking for a country ride out of the burbs .... no traffic but beautiful countryside... Will be putting on at least 300 miles, I am sure..
Midterm is next week and I need break from the books so the Harley is coming out.
JC - take a ride out to Starved Rock State Park (near Utica and LaSalle Peru). Very scenic and twisting roads w/ rock formations, the Illinois River and the lodge at Starved Rock as an endpoint. Check out the music and drinks at the Backdoor Lounge at Starved Rock. If you take 47 south to Rt. 6, it's a very pretty, cycle friendly road - looks a lot like your photo above. Have a safe ride!

The thing is - anyplace on a bike is magic if you are in the mood. I'd look for rivers and river roads: the Illinois River, the Fox River, the Rock River, the Illinois River - each of these rivers have really nice rides.
I don't know where you are located and what river road is close to you so it is hard to advise. Perhaps we need to get to know more about one another - so I should contact you if your are interested...
