I will give her another day to respond, but I am on the eve of announcing it.
What do you you suggest for reporting respected providers that fail to refund deposits when they canceled?
I suggest posting here if you're willing to deal with the problems she may cause. Maybe a strong hint as to who she is before giving us her full name so she knows you're prepared to out her. It may give her the encouragement to make things right. She may not see it because TER isn't as active as it was, but I'm sure there are guys who would appreciate knowing who is ripping people off.
I had a similar situation, didn’t report her, but, if anyone asks about her, I will let them know what happened. And, I no longer deal with those who want deposits.
I like that approach. Wish it did not come down to that.
This is so disheartening. I'm not a fan of deposits to begin with. I only ask for a deposit when I'm traveling a distance to see someone and that's to book travel and make sure he shows up. I'm not going to travel sometimes all day to be blown off.
I never take deposits for regular meetings, I also don't get a lot of NCNS, hardly any. I attribute this to my screening and where I choose to advertise. If I do get blown off, I'm a responsible adult and manage my money well enough that it does not put me in a bad financial situation. Fortunately, I have never been blown off on a travel date.
When I do receive deposits, I do NOT see the money as mine. When deposits are given to lawyers, contractors, etc, legally it goes into an account, it does not belong to the person asking for the deposit. I treat hobby deposits the same way. It gets set aside for 2 days as I allow a full refund within 48 hours of me receiving the deposit. In my experience, most cancellations happen within 48 hours. After the 48 hours, I book travel and ONLY travel. I have not yet earned money so I do not see the deposit as mine.
I've had a few gentlemen cancel after I booked travel. If I can get a refund on the travel, I will send it to them as well as any portion of the deposit that went unused. It sucks to have to give up money over a change in plans, I totally understand this and will try to make it as painless as possible if I can.
A repeat client is more important to me than any deposit.
i would let her know that if she doesn't refund you, you're going to put a message on the board and write a review detailing the issue. Nothing wrong with doing that. You don't have to be a dick about it but just let her know that you feel other people should know that's she did this.
As long as the cancellation policy was clear and she did indeed cancel then she should do what’s right . But if she said that oh could put it towards next appt and you are leaving that out then that is wrong on your part. This is one reason I don’t take deposits . If you miss an appointment with me you will be the one regretting it not me. I have quite a list of people I won’t see because they blew me off. Many people come back begging and I tell them no. Many have double the price and I still say no. It’s about respect and trust on both sides once that is broken it’s hard to fix. I am sorry you had your trust broken but we also only getting one side of the story here.

Good thoughts and she did send me a note saying she would refund it. Now just a ghost.
Hey there Foody!
I just wanted to put my two cents in cuz you know me…always the gabby girl!
Anyways, please don’t take this the wrong way but since I’ve returned to my rightful place here in this community (I say rightful because I feel like I belong and always have since I was only 18 years old) after a looooong ten year hiatus due to a heartbreaking blow in my family life (TMI?), I’ve decided to take deposits as well. I really hope that it doesn’t rub people the wrong way though and I promise you that I would never take someone’s money at the fault of my own. I mean, it’s really quite sacrilege when you think about it. If you can’t trust a person who happens to be your favorite provider whom you’ve shared intimacy with and such; well, then who can you trust? Am I being naive again?
Anyways, I really hope you two get it all sorted out and can move on to better things which may or may not include deposits. You may possibly want to ask her to waive the deposits in all future endeavors. If that is not an option on her end, just tell me who she is and I will go to her house and steal all of her left shoes! Haha! Just kidding! I only steal right shoes.

A very attractive voice from the past. I agree deposits are the new way of business . It is a provider like the one I am referencing that makes it harder for other providers to ask for deposits due to ghosting/scamming.
Welcome back!! Hope life is much better for you know.
Everything is better now! I’m just so excited to be back where I belong!
You know, I’ve spent ten years away in mourning but now I realize my purpose is to make other people happy because that in turn makes me genuinely happy.
Hoping to see you soon,
Giselle Parker
How can some people sleep at night? In my opinion, this should be reported because it is not right.
#1 The client committed to paying the deposit as requested. He followed the rule.
#2 If nothing is done, this will happen again to someone else.
#3 It's just WTF... rules are rules. I'm sure she would shame you if it were the other way around.
BTW I'm new here ...not sure if im posting ''my 3cents'' correctly lol

Your message is welcomed and I agree with your thoughts.
I am still hoping, though not expecting that she will stop ghosting me. She also recently came back to the board and has been missing for quite awhile.
I think it's time to share the information
