When a lady, local or travelling, is using a hotel for an incall, discretion is the better part of valour.  The lady relies upon the gentleman arriving  discretely and not drawing undue attention to himself.  She may have more than one appointment schedule at the hotel and it is important that her visit does not draw undue attention of the front desk or other hotel staff.

That said, here are some tips (and they are especially true for smaller hotels and extended stays):

1.  Make sure you have brought your "gift envelope" and identification with you to the appointment.  Running back out to your car to get these items should be avoided.  Yes, you will need a valid I.D. even if you have been prescreened.  The lady knows only that she prescreened "John Smith," and now she wants to be make sure that the person at her door is the person she prescreened.

2.  Call the lady from the parking lot, or outside of the hotel, to get the room number.  Unless its a very large and busy hotel, placing that call and the subsequent conversation from the inside lobby will be most likely be noticed.  Lets face it, most people (including hotel staff) are nosey.  Also if the lady is running late, you are left sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for her to let you know she is ready and, again, this draws unnecessary attention to yourself and to the lady.

3.  Rather than just getting the room number, stay on the line and find out the location of the guest room elevators from the front door.  The easiest way to drawn undue attention is by wandering aimlessly throughout the lobby looking for an elevator.  You are likely to have a member of the staff ask you if you are; a) checking in or b) offering to assist you.  Since there are numerous shifts operating at hotels, if you act like a registered guest who is familiar with the layout, you will not draw attention to yourself.

*4.  Carry a gym bag or a handled shopping bag if you are bringing the lady a gift and put any flowers, wine or presents in the bag.  Gifts are always welcome and unexpected.  Women love gifts and appreciate when they are given.  However, if you show up as if you are a dinner guest with a bottle of wine and a bouquet of flowers in hand, this will certainly be noticed.  Even more noticeable, that bright pink striped "Victoria's Secret" bag.  These should also be placed in a plain shopping bag or a gym bag. (If you are bringing a bottle of wine, it may also be advisable to bring a cork screw.  Not all hotels provide them.)

5.  When you arrive at the lady's room, tap on the door lightly and discreetly.  Be patient.  If she does not open the door right away, tap again lightly.  It is never OK to pound on the door.  If possible, arrange for her to be waiting for you by the door so she can open it quickly.  Wait until you enter the room before exchanging any greetings.  There are other guests in the hotel and hotel staff who may notice your entry and overhear your introduction.  In other words saying, "Hello Sinful" from the hallway would not be advisable.

6.  When leaving, say your goodbyes and collect your goodbye kisses inside the door.  Then leave quietly.

7. As always, if you are running late (even if through no fault of your own), it is important to call the lady and let her know of any delay.  Even if she is only seeing one other client that day, it does not mean that the other appointment is not immediately after yours and your tardiness may interfere with that appointment.

This all sounds like common sense, but its amazing that "common sense is not so common."

I almost always have my laptop with me. I bring it up to the room. Walking through the lobby with a computer bag over my shoulder makes me fit in even more so.

Don't dress as a 'delivery person' with it in a bag.  You're just bringing it back to your room and all anyone else remembers is that they are hungry too.   Hyatt, Holiday Inn, Best Western, Radisson, and various Extended Stays don't care.  That's been my experience.

As he is standing in front of the reception desk he makes the second call, in a loud outdoor voice, "What room number did you say? Room 1412. Got it. Be right up." LOL

The most important thing when entering a hotel for an incall is to act like you belong there.  We've all been guests at a hotel and have entered a lobby and walked past a front desk numerous times without thinking twice about how to "act".  So it shouldn't be any different when going to an incall.  Asking the provider to direct you to the elevators (as already mentioned) prior to entering the lobby will help in creating that illusion.  Even a simple greeting or acknowledgment of the staff if they so happen to make eye contact works wonders as well.  It shows that you belong and have nothing to hide.  Also, if possible I try to exit out a side or back door afterward to avoid staff noticing my short stay duration.

Be friendly with the hotel staff. If you must walk by the front desk and the desk clerk greets you, say hello with a quick smile. Ignoring a friendly gesture looks suspicious. If you pass housekeeping and she smiles and says hello, return the greeting. Act as if you're a guest. If it's a bigger hotel with conference rooms, carry a briefcase with your laptop in it. There's nothing more suspicious than sitting around waiting for a call with nothing to do or read. Bust out the laptop and do some work or at least pretend to. Blend in with the other guests. It's not uncommon for people to sit in lobby areas working on their laptops. If you don't have a laptop or briefcase and you must go inside, don't stand around waiting for the call. Take the elevator to a random floor and walk around as if you're heading to your room. If there's too much housekeeping activity on the floor, hit a stairwell and walk down a flight or two to find a floor that's quieter.

Invariably, I find housekeeping within a few doors of where I'm visiting. I hate tapping on the door so I'll ask the provider if she can leave the door open a crack and let me in when she sees me. This works well if you've seen the provider before.

Pretty much what I just posted. Leaving via a back door is a good idea, just make sure you can reach your car from that door. I thought I was being clever at a larger hotel and exited out the nearest back door only to find that my car was on the other side of the building and there was no way to get to the other side of the building except from inside the hotel. It wasn't fun re-entering the lobby and passing the front desk a second time to go left instead of right, lol.

Be careful with the walking around on other floors idea.  Keep an eye open for security cameras.  I was seeing a lady not too long ago at a nice hotel and ended up in the building with her room number and she called while I was in the elevator on my way up and said she was sorry but she needed 5 more minutes and she would leave the door cracked open when she was ready and i should just knock lightly and enter.  I hit the button in the elevator to get off on the floor below hers and started the hallway walk. I immediately noticed (because I do some work in CCTV) that there was CCTV cameras in the hallways.  Rather than be watched walking all over the hotel on camera I headed down the stairs then out of the building. Waited outside for a few minutes and then headed back in through the front door.  My second time up the door was open and it was time for some fun.

Did you notice any cams in the stairwells? Same thing exact happened to me. There was no where to hang for a few minutes so I exited into a stairwell and got some exercise. Funniest thing was the provider asked me why I was out of breath - I said I started without her, lol.
