Hi, I think my personal reference may be consistent with the general pattern that you have already noticed. You are right about Chicago downtown that the volume of commuters/workers drops significantly during the weekend. At the same time, the volume of tourists is probably steady throughout the year but can be low when it's not summer. The volume of trade show or conference attendees may vary week to week.
So for your purpose, staying in downtown loop or mag mile during weekdays while staying in Ohare area during the weekend would possibly be the best strategy.
I believe weekends in the burbs will definitely help you get clients who cannot play during weekdays despite where they work and live.
I personally prefer downtown area as incall mainly because the room is generally nicer than the lower end chains in the burbs and it's way more convenient than the nice hotels at Ohare. It makes the meeting feel more like an afternoon getaway with a girl friend or FWB. Yes, meeting at Marriot or Westin at Ohare is also very nice, but if the room is equally nice, I as a client, still need to spend an hour for CTA commute and walking to the hotel.
If you know you can establish enough appointments to make satisfactory profit with your Chicago trip and you can book a hotel directly rather than rely on, say, Priceline's name your own price to get a good deal for the area not knowing which one, then you can check out Crowne Plaza near west loop. Easy highway access, easier and cheaper street parking, and it can be appealing for those who drive. Other downtown hotels are unlikely fully booked during weekdays when there are no big conferences or trade shows.

It didn't occur to me to split my time between the burbs and downtown. See? That's why I've come to the forums for advice. That one was a gem. Perhaps you could elaborate further on best days for each? I'm noticed my weekends in Downtown tend to be sower, and with higher room rates. So, I would imagine the beginning of the weekend and start og the week in the burbs, like a Friday through Monday checkout then a Monday check in through Friday checkout or something like that?

I believe you will get different pools of clients between downtown and ohare.
Had I known you were staying the downtown hotels in the area you mentioned, I could walk to the appointment in 10 minutes, have a nice afternoon getaway and then go back to my office. So much easier for gents who work in downtown area if their work schedule could only be flexible to some extent.
I don't care so much about paid or free parking at Ohare or burbs. It's the time and traffic jam that discourage me from seeing ladies. Everybody's time is money. I cannot afford the unpredictable commute time. It will mess up my schedule and make it difficult for me to stay low profile in my real life.
But hosting in the burbs will get you clients who live or work in the burbs. They are likely driving to work already, so it is easy for them to drive to your hotel and see you.
Many touring ladies will stay a few days in downtown and a few days in the burb.
I hope to see you hosting downtown again soon.
