They probably use different throwaways in different cities which is actually pretty smart. Knowing cell phones can be tracked, it's not a bad idea to use different numbers in different places. That way the phone is only active for a few days at a time and then goes silent.

There might be some marketing advantage to having a local area code as well. Maybe some guys feel more at ease calling someone with a local number - I don't know, LOL.

Does anyone else find this odd...  "Visiting" providers that are "Independents" are only in town for a short time having local (312) or (773) area codes on their contact number.  Why would "visiting independent" providers, especially ones that have never been here have a local number?

I'm asking only out of ignorance.  Temporary phones???  There might be a legit reason but as of right now it just kinda throws a red flag out there for me.

How do others feel about this or have anyone else noticed?

I'll throw in an couple example... One is in for 4 days and another is in for 6.  Both are "visiting" and both are "Independents"

One provider told me she tries to give the impression that she's from out of town because she gets higher rates that way.  I think it can be self defeating however because the limited time she's "in town" just might not fit into my schedule so I don't even try contacting her.  As for pricing, come on, are we that gullible?

I advertise on the Eros website also. My base city is New York. The best page to be listed on is the "what's new" category. I post a visiting ad every so often to be listed there. This could be why you find local providers with visiting ads.

Dude,
Phone service was deregulated over 25 years ago. With the explosion of cellular services offering nationwide plans area codes mean very little.  We're a mobile society.  In the past three years I lived in three different states keeping the same phone with a 773 area code.
You're reading way too much into this.  Fin

Thank you for the input..  I am ignorant to these situations...

Thank you,
