Without naming any names, or having a "hit" being made on anyone, how concerned are you that some of the providers or, more likely, agencies are actually part of, or are run by organized crime? Do you know that some are and what percentage or estimated number do you believe are? I'm talking about the ones getting reviews here, have ads on sites other than craiglist/backpage, or have their own websites. I think we're all against the pimp type activity, and that coercing, beating and taking money off of "sex workers" shouldn't exist in our society.
Has pretty much gotten out of the p2p business. There were a multitude of convictions that came out of an FBI sting in the 1980s. The places in Lyons and Melrose Park were shut down. Cicero followed in the early 90s.
It was almost comical what happened. These guys took credit cards. You need to have a company that clears the cards. Being greedy they moved in on that company. The owner of that company went to the Feds and presto the FBI became the mobs business partner. Lots of busts. It has been reported that the mob guys were so concerned about leaks, they would meet naked, on a boat, out in Lake Michigan. They figured someone was wired.
A good number of ladies who worked in these places testified for Uncle Sam. Lots of people went to jail.
At that point they looked for easier ways to make money. Mortgage fraud, medical fraud and other white collar types of crime. Selling sex had to many people who could testify against them
I wouldn't worry about the mob. A lone wolf who wants to run an extortion play would be a bigger risk. IMHO.
As best as I can, I try to stick to Americans. I would hate to be a part of a system that had latina or eastern european girls who traveled over here in a shipping container...
I used to know a number of members of organized crime. They were great guys. The mob always had more honor, honesty, and a better moral code than politicians, bankers, and cops. I respect them, very much. They keep their promises. Don't bad mouth them.
