Will the NATO Summit be good for business?
Will it keep the local providers busy?
Will it bring in a lot of visiting providers?
Is any of this good, bad or otherwise for the local hobbyists?

Just curious...

Hotel security will probably be increased. I'm sure the hotel rates will be high.  Plus, downtown traffic will be a mess.  And, if the protests get violent, forget it.

and he said the whole week will suck for business.  most of their regular type conv business has concelled out of fear and as he says, all those protesters are not going to be staying in exp hotels, eating fancy meals, etc.  it will just screw up traffic worse than anything we have seen in out lifetimes he says.  he has had several meetings with the city, police and secret service already and every time they meet they lay something new and even crazier on him.

get out of town or avoic downtown is his absolute advice.

1. It takes up all the rooms downtown so traveling providers will need to choose another location.
2. It's a political function so unless they get Pre screened, not a big to do as they most likely aren't part of a service.
3. It's a hassle. It's not like a huge, regular convention that comes in once a year. These are mostly all newbies with a few paranoid ITHobby guys.
4. Girls that "may" be busy are the ones that will offer old fashioned screening, will offer outcalls or already have a private place downtown.

*shrug* I'm not excited or worried- it's just another piece of Chgo's personality we need to deal with.
