Hi, I saw that the band Megadeth is coming in concert Saturday night.  Any ladies on this board, that actually are a fan of hard rock music.  I really want to see them, and am even willing to just go solo.  I love metal music, but you would never tell by looking at me.  My look screams more Old Navy and picking the kids up from soccer practice     I am ok if this is just a "social date" with no private time.....all though I'm sure after the concert will get me revved up, wink wink.  Afterall, women usually look pretty frigging sexy at these type of concerts.  

Another Spinal Tap like band touring I see. Now look, I loved metal in the 80's when the bands were still creating new and exciting music. My issue with some of these old "hair" bands is this they play the same old songs and setlists tour after tour. Which is ok I guess if do not want to evolve musically.

I'm a proud Phish fan since the 90's, a band that continues to make new music ( 2 albums in the past 5 years).  
Recently they finished the Baker's Dozen (13 shows) at Madison Square Garden without repeating one song,  
quite a musically feat indeed.

I love loud music and huge guitar jams, it's one reason I used to love metal. Trust me Trey and Phish would enlighten some of you older metal heads to what real jamming is all about.

you are incorrect.  While Megadeath had longer hair, they were NEVER known as a hair band and are part of the original 4 heavy metal/thrash metal bands that founded the current heavy metal we now enjoy(though some of the new stuff is kinda crazy).  They didn't do the glam rock crap, wear makeup or have some stupid gimmick like other bands that were in fact hair bands and for the most part passe.  

Megadeath, Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer are the originals and while you may not enjoy the classics, they are for the most part really amazing works in a genre that really didn't exist prior at least on that level.  Many enjoy hearing the classics wrapped in with the new, I know I do so that I can sing along to songs I listened to when I was 16 and raising the double devil horns!  Sure, there was Black Sabbath, Iron Madien, and even Judas Priest were all very early as well but didn't really get into thrash.  

Anyway, Hope you enjoyed the history lesson and while I am a little younger then some that enjoy this music it is in fact my teens years incarnate....

To the OP, I was laughing at your description of yourself.  I am sure everyone thought I was nuts when I went to a Rob Zombie/Godsmack concert some 10-11yrs ago and was wearing Tommy jeans and tee looking like a total soccer mom.  All I can say, own it.  While I would love to go, I have other commitments and would be unable.  There are many other metal loving ladies, hoping you can find one.  Take care and ROCK ON!  Sage

Back in the 70s/80s I did tons of rock 'n roll photography.
This past year that career got resurrected after bunches of old contacts kept asking me to get back in the game. Been out of town a lot covering festivals and individuals shows all summer. Just got back from St. Paul where Ace Frehley performed on stage with Gene Simmons at a Benefit Concert, first time they have been together on stage since both being a part of Kiss in 2001.  

I'll be at Scorpions/Megadeth on Saturday, no photos this time around but I gotta do a review of the show... but I don't think I'm the kinda "date" you're looking for LOL

...Maiden, Priest (who were my two of my favorites 80's bands you referenced)  Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica and others certainly were not hair bands. However you missed my main point, which is what have these bands done recently to move their genre of music forward?  Any new albums by any of these bands?? Maybe, but I'm guessing their concert setlists have not changed much in the past 20 years.

This is in by no means disrespect to any these bands or their fans. I just feel good to know (as does a wonderful provider on here) that there is a whole ongoing jamband scene that is fresh and vibrant...which makes me feel good and "good about Hood"...wink.

Actually both Metallica and Megadeath have both had new CD's in 2016, Anthrax is in the middle of a revamp and putting out a new CD soon.  I am also sure if you think about it Metallica took alot of flack for expanding their vision years ago and introducing the 1st metal with a full orchestra.    

 
I do get it though, many of Megadeaths cd's all sound very similar but they also cater to a group that know what they like and Megadeath provides it in spades.  

 
Personally, for me and trust me I listen to pretty much everything aside from like Sinatra(had on Enya this morning and switched to Lenny Kravitz this afternoon, then listened to some Nickleback in the car on the way home).  For me I like knowing what to expect when I listen to a bands new music, changing it up radically kinda feels like betrayal since it is the consumers that support the artists.  

 
Alot of the new music(not all) I can't get behind.  The voices are so synthesized that you can't even tell some of them apart.  I have a terrible time with Sia, Rhianna and this other lady.  Do I like where the music industry is headed?  Not really, I want artists with great and unique voices to really showcase their talent unaccompanied.  Lately, that is just not happening much unless you look to older bands.  A bit depressing TBH and that is my personal opinion since you took it opon yourself to assert yours.  

 
RANDOM FACT  Do you know that James Hatfield was not the original singer for Metallica?  Nope, Dave Mustaine was.  There was a issue between Dave and the rest of the band and he was fired.  They then picked up James Hatfield and have what we now know as Metallica.  For those who are not familiar, Dave Mustaine is the singer for Megadeath so when he was fired he made the lateral move.  So there you go.  I have met Dave in person but while cool, the back stage area is kinda crazy and I am pretty sure he wanted to get back to the twins that were "there" for him in a special booth..

Thank you,  I too was a teen when they were in their prime,  UNfortunately  though I have not yet found anyone to go with.   I'm afraid it may be too ackward for me to go solo.  I am going to keep checking the boards and see what happens.  

also I am pretty sure it is standing room only(almost bought some tix for a family member).  Or reach out to Kwasi and see if he wants to meet up so you have someone to talk to.  He is nice, older but still....  

Keep in mind, if you want to do something, do it as long as it is not harming someone else.  You only get this 1 life to live, make the best of it, or it has bested you

I've found even if the lady who accompanies you isn't a huge fan it's still a really fun experience. I went to a blue club last week and had more fun than I have in a while. Unless you want someone going to be able to match rock t shirts with ya! I think any lady you might take would have an awesome time.  

But, you shouldn't feel awkward going alone either! Hey maybe you'll find a cute metal chick to make out with you or sit on your shoulders to flash the band! 😉
