By the way, I hate the wording. I prefer calling it as pleasuring yourself....or myself    In my case, every other day the most or twice a week at least; on the outside.

. . . unable to bear the idea that I did not know something, I looked up the etymology of the word "masturbate."  Turns out it's not terribly clear, but all of the possibilities are negative.  Onan from the Bible wasn't considered such a nice guy, he was the father of masturbation in more ways than one it seems . . .  
So I think the use of the term "jack off" will continue to serve me.  I agree that to "pleasure" oneself sounds nicer.  I can't do it, though.

Funny, just the other day I was calculating how many orgasms I have probably had in my lifetime.
