However NyQuil has come out with a sleep aid-- I've used it myself a few times. Then I just open a book until I feel it working.

Stress and lack of exercise are the biggest culprits of insomnia so try a hot shower before bed to relax those muscles, do a 20 min Pilates video and grab your fav battery operated friend!

You'll be happy and dreaming of sex on the beach in no time.

Especially when in a new, unfamiliar place. I will flip through the television until I get tired. I do NOT suggest you do the same because one of the biggest no nos for sleeping soundly at night is having a T.V. on. I read that the glare of the boob tube disrupts your deep sleep.

 The best thing that works for me is to lay down, turn off the tube and relax and close my eyes. If I pretend I am falling asleep, I eventually do. I just normally am up at night and feeling ready for anything! If I lived inn NYC I would be in trouble. You can get a manicure/pedicure there after midnight! There is lots to do in that city. It is already bad enough that I will go grocery shopping at 24 hour groceries. I like being the only in the store late at night. ;-)

 I have tried the Nyquil ZZZZs and it does not work so well for me. Neither does melatonin, but many people do well on melatonin. Just do not take more then the dosage posted on back of bottle or box.

If all else fails, maybe some lucky guy will contact you for a late night tryst! ;-)

I do several things.  One, I lie on the bed with soft lights and simply meditate (not the chanting kind), reflecting on nothing in particular, just letting my body and mind relax.  Two, I read something that does not want me to keep turning pages, but rather a lite read such a a book you can put down (I am reading A Irish Country........book). It is one that provides an insight to Irish lifestyles, but is not a cliffhanger that I need to read the next chapter.  Three, At times I take melatonin as a doctor suggested.  I take one tablet 1/2 hour before bed and one table at bedtime.  Melatonin tends to shut your brain down so that you don't have hundreds of thoughts going through your mind.  The only problem is that you do awake with a heavy head, but that goes away in about ten to 15 minutes.  I would describe it like a hangover from a deep sleep.  Hope this helps.

Melatonin sometimes helps. You can buy a bottle at Walgreens.

Cherries are one of the only natural food sources of melatonin,helps regulate sleep. Cherries have high levels of melatonin eat them an hour before bedtime and  bananas hold potassium and magnesium a muscle relaxant :) make a fruity salad or pile them on top of a waffle with a litte
whipped cream and a hot cup of chamomile tea with honey . ZZZzzzzz zzzz zzzz
