Advice On Visiting A Big City Like Chicago

I am planning to visit Chicago and am not sure if I should stay downtown Chicago or in O'Hare. I've already made a big mistake visiting a big city that was congested with traffic and expensive parking, which made it hard for me to book appointments. Traveling can be very expensive, so it is important to me that I stay somewhere easy for my future appointments to get to.

I'm new in this business so any help the board can give me would be really appreciated.

 Thanks in advance

i always advise our first time visitors to stay near O'Hare..many clients prefer it because of easy accessibility..the hotels are first class..parking is a breeze..there is really no congestion to speak of..once you get the feel of our city..you can always try Downtown..it is better to get your feet wet first before jumping in the crowded pool..enjoy your stay..

I would also suggest you consider the Oak Brook area.  Very accessible for clients, nice hotels, and plenty of shopping, dining, entertainment for your down time

Hey girl, I am visiting Chicago soon too and from all the info I received you can stay in a couple of areas during your visit.

Hope you have a great trip and time there.

O'Hare area is fine, but try to avoid the hotels near the Rosemont Convention Center. They charge $20 or more for parking.

..... I spent a good amount of time in downtown, o'hare and oak brook and found I liked the business that came to me in downtown & o'hare much better vs oak brook.

That's a good idea. I guess I will visit both places while I'm there.

Thanks!

You will need a higher caliber gentlemen if you stay inorth of the river downtown or river north or the Gold Coast the loop does not work well the downtown north is wonderful plus her often great bargains on four star hotels on Hotwire.
Staying in a first-class downtown hotel will definitely pay off for you. Let me know and I'll be there.

if I were you I would split between ohare and downtown. I really do like both, I would stay out of oakbrook as le been very evident on making providers life hell.

The class of gentleman is significantly higher if you are in the River North,Gold Coast or downtown north of the river neighborhoods You'll find it is safer less  le presence virtually zero and you can get great bargains on four and five star hotels on Hotwire. Choose a week when there is a nice convention in town and you'll be virtually it's busy if you care to be plus you'll be invited to great restaurants for wonderful meals and fun evenings on the town. Let me know when you'll be here I'll be waiting.

whether you choose ohare or downtown it will be a pain or a blessing for most people....guys who stay downtown will see it as a pain going out to ohare and vice versa so why not just see who you get more interest from before you come and base your decision on that.

If you get a bunch of emails from hobbiests in the burbs or around the city then go with ohare... if you get more interest from guys downtown then make that your destination.

Also let your own goals pave the way... if you know you will want to check out the sites downtown then maybe stay there so you dont have to inconvenience yourself with the trip back out to ohare... if you dont really care about going downtown then just stay by ohare so you arent far from the airport and dont have to stray far from your hub.

but at the end of the day ..... if you book it they will cum

I think I'm going to need a tour guide. Maybe someone would not mind being my host/hostess in Chicago and showing me around

Jordan,
welcome to the Chicago community, you will find many incredible peeps here, both Ladies and Gents, that will make your adventure, to our great city, an incredible experience.

Everyone has offered great Advice and excellent rationale for where to stay.

My take:
DT is excellent for the Businessman here for conventions, businesss trips, many local guys are down here, and just plain being DT...a great place to be in a World Class City, Great Hotels, restaurant's, sites, shopping, events, beach, etc....need i say more.  Draw back is Traffic for those that live outside of the city.
You'll want to make some time here for sure.

Rosemont/O'Hare is good for Businessmen with layovers from Traveling, Conventioneers, and is fairly decent place to travel to for the local Guys.  Good Hotels, Great Food, River's Casino, etc....
Definately a good place for Biz.

Oak Brook/Lombard is good for a short stint, Business men, decent to travel to, good hotels, great restaurants, and two major Shopping Centers 5 min apart.
Another good place for Biz, not to be left off your travels..

Personally, I can do all three of these locations....I'm equidistant from all of them, and travel to all parts of the city far and wide for my work.

There is of Course the far NW suburban area of Woodfield Mall/Schaumburg....Plenty of Hotels, shopping, restaurants, etc.
Only draw back is that it is Isolated far NW, but there is plenty of action out there...

So there you have it Beautiful.  This is just the tip of the iceberg too.

All we need now is your intinerary.
Be Well
LD

But I was in Chicago for 5 days so that worked pretty well.   I did that on the very good advice of another lady from MN who travels here.   I liked both areas equally well.........both have their pros and cons.

When I come back in a few weeks I'm checking out the Oak Brook area.

p.s.
You will love these guys in Chicago, they are AWESOME!!!!

You may also want to plan a trip to Milwaukee.  While I have found one provider I see regularly, the variety is limited.  Only a 90 min trip by car from O'Hare and I would stay by the airport.  Stay away from Brookfield if you do come up

After looking at your reviews and website I don't care where you stay cause I will be there regardless.
