Interesting, but most of that article deals with people who play in the big leagues, not minor leaguers like me. I'd love to be able to have a $100,000 offshore account.
My problem is that my wife handles our household finances, so secret withdrawals and writing checks on hidden accounts are out of the question. I used to use my Discover Card to pick-up $50 cash during checkout at Jewel or Walgreens. Then Discover started summarizing cash withdrawals made every month. After some creative answers to her questions, that door was shut.
Now I charge Gift Cards on my Visa or Discover. There's a 10% service charge, $4.95 on a $50 card, but there is no further identification on the monthly statement. It could be groceries or anything else. It's well worth the premium.
I have been fortunate to find some ladies who gladly accept these cards.
Ladies, how do you feel about Gift Cards? Do you accept them? If so, have you encountered any problems with them?
I'm no big leaguer either. I'm proud to say I own a new invention that has proven to work quite well. It's called a coffee can. I hide it deep within the crawlspace and stash spare cash in it whenever I get it. Ingenious!

Gift cards are nice when given as a gift in a session, but generally I wouldn't accept this as payment unless the guy was a very regular client who I haven't had any problems with in the past AND it was either a general Visa or AMEX card or to a store that I frequently shop.
I would be very leery of a gift card if it was not from someone I really trusted. I too prefer cash. I have gotten gift cards from someone I trusted and I even got a couple Amazon e-gift cards (Loved that since I love getting books and other stuff from Amazon), but those were just tips or for a last minute canceled appointment. I have never received a gift card for a session.
Why not get one of those prepaid Rush cards that Russell Simmons advertises? You can fund it with cash deposits at Western Union or Moneygram or even with Paypal. Load it up over time then withdraw whatever you need from an ATM. And dude, tell your wife you want more pocket money.
