As for "cheaper to keep her," this is marriage and family according to the late Johnnie ["Who's Makin' Love (with your old lady)?"] Taylor —one of his Stax record hits.  The lyrics tell of a man with five children, annoyed with his wife's complaining.  The alternative?  Alimony, child support and court costs.

Keeping implies having previously agreed to keep.  Somehow I don't think this is the [unstated] rule that applies in "the hobby," as it's called, whether on the part of the customers or the providers.

Just wondering : Who's makin' love to your old lady while you're out makin' love?
