WTF is going on? I got an email from Charlie's Little Secret this morning that also went to 50 other hobbyists and I could see their names and addresses as they could see mine. Is common sense dead? This is the second time this has happened to me in the last 6 mos....Abbie did this as well months ago. Yeah, I know...shame on me for using a legit address, but still this in wrong and inexcusable. I have no intention of seeing either lady or any other that can't exercise proper discretion in this hobby.

Why write this?

To vent and to let other hobbyists know how careless some providers are with our personal information...

This stuff happens all the time and not just from agencies or providers who don't know any better. Provider emails get hacked and the same thing happens. Your fault for using a real email address, not smart at all.

I have done it myself a couple times not out of carelessness or malice but because I accidentally added the addresses to the wrong box totally by accident.  Thank goodness most of the gents on my mailers kinda let me know it happened and then I send out a BCC explaining how sorry I am.  I think this has only happened 2-3x in 6yrs of having my mailer?  None of the times was it on purpose.  This is something a provider NEVER in a million years wants to see happen.  I also know Abbie FREAKED out when she did it by accident.  She was only just getting used to sending out her own emails and when she figured it out she called me panicked.

If your info is such that an accident that is inevitable at some point is unacceptable then don't join a mailer.   Or make up a fakey Yahoo one like everyone else and use that.  Heck I have 1 guy that in the past 4mo or so has changed his email like 3-4x just to make sure what I send is safe on his side as well.  I as well as other providers will try to protect you the best that we can, but do ask that you realize we are still human.  You know the human factor that allows us to be a GFE.  That also means that on occasion we will slip up completely unintentionally.  So accept my sincere apology that this happened and know that there was no malice intended.

I know I'm biased, but you have done a great job over the years with your mailers. We all screw up from time to time, but handling as much email as you do, you do a great job. I'm sure Abbey didn't mean to have something like that happen. As Polish Pirate said, we all have to have a designated fake hobby email to cover ourselves, as mistakes will happen.

I try to do well with my mailers.

I just wrote the message as the originator almost seemed to think we were putting him in danger on purpose.  Reputable ladies/agencies do not do it on purpose, and I just wanted to point that out.  I hope that in a small way it makes him feel better about what happened because we all want to feel safe.

A last note...  Never in the few mistakes I have made with my mailer hoave I ever had one of the guests report to me that another guest contacted them.  I think they all end up just as off put by seeing the other emails as you do.  If it is of concern remind the provider to BCC.  But none of those guys is plotting and wondering how to take you down, they are just the next guy who might feel a little strange that his email was exposed.  Heck, I don't even think they go through the other emails to see who all is in it so they wouldn't even notice yours is a work one.  It would just feel to odd to most guys.

Take care and play safe all, Sage

Sage,
I did not mean to insinuate that harm was intended. It is just a frustrating situation to be in compounded by my own stupidity for using my real email address in the first place.  I do appreciate your kind words of wisdom.

It is certainly more helpful than "Your fault for using a real email address, not smart at all. " from Polish Pirate. He did a splendid job pouring salt on a wound just to make himself feel so smart. While I no longer respect him, I admire your grace in your reply. Take care, Sage.
