there was a change in requirements that limited folks to only using a social media link and a phone number. Providers can't even really put a description unless they include it as an image (such as a text screenshot).  

I don't really see folks only linking to their social media so much on TER ads, mainly people link to their websites... So I'm guessing backpage is what you meant.

Taking off the ability for people to put descriptions on their ads is stupid, but I don't see how having a link to their social page would make it hard to tell scams?? If anything, it gives you more information.  

You can follow the link, and see their web presence? If the twitter or facebook page has no user interaction or is blank, there's a good chance the person isn't real or is catfishing. If they're interacting, posting regularly, etc. you know they're real, and you also get to see some of their personality, which is usually not revealed during the booking process...
