Google+ Warning

Thought all you nice gents and ladies ought to take note of this one.  I have a Gmail email account that I don't use much, but I check it every so often.  This morning I received a nice email from the "Google+ Team" inviting me to check out "someone I might know" on Google+.  I looked at the list of members (with photos) and number one on the list was a lovely provider who I saw just a few weeks ago.  No problem, so far, right?   Well, I clicked on this lady's picture and there for all the world to see was the lady's "circle of friends," complete with their real world names, and some with their pictures!  (I assume Google figures out who you've been emailing and comes up with the list.) You don't even have to join Google+ to see all this info (I'm not in it), you just need a Gmail account and they email you this stuff!  Makes it easy for LE and your wife's attorney, doesn't it?

Peace and love to all, and play safe.

Bob

Thanks for mentioning this. Google doesn't give a rip about personal privacy.  I recently got an Android phone and wanted to download an app from Google store. When reading the about the app, Google said they would collect info my phone data, email addresses, location, etc.  None of that was needed in the functionality of the app so I didn't purchase it.

Please, though it's a pain in the ass, I strongly suggest everyone read the Privacy Agreements before you join a website, download something, etc.

A similar thing happened to me.  I just noticed the other day that the contact I had for a provider automatically uploaded a photo of her, one of her ad pics, headless and naked!  I am guessing it sync'd with her Google + or her gmail address, but I did not do it on purpose.

The Android Play Store has plenty of apps that can be used to help guard your privacy.  The Android Play Store is much better than the Apple App Store in this respect.  (The developer guidelines that Android developers follow is more flexible than Apple App Store developer guidelines in terms of creating apps with covert functionality.)

I dislike the idea that creating a Gmail account seems to almost automatically cause the creation of a Google+ account.  And I also dislike the way that a Gmail account can become associated with a million other Google functionalities.  A private e-mail account needs to be free of entanglements.

Did you add her or email her?  That is interesting that Google linked you and her together.

No, she was in my old Android phone contacts with phone and email ( I am single) and I got a new Android and all the contacts sync'd up, but after a day or two I noticed a few of them uploaded photos.  Hers was not the only photo contact uploaded, just the only naked provider one!
