From the perspective of a client, what purpose should a blog serve? Would any of you read it?

Obviously, I am not a client, but I've always kept a log. I think some gents like to really get to know us before meeting, which a blog can help with. Your personality is just as important, if not more, to some gentlemen.  

I write my blog for marketing as it helps generate business. If the men feel comfortable after reading what you’ve written, they feel more comfortable verifying. On the other hand, some men don’t like to read and you can’t change that.  

I use mine to keep people up to date schedule. There they can it is new that day and I'm available. Unlike a calendar the guys can see it was updated with the date. In fact I need to go do that now!

A blog is a lot of hard work keeping it updated etc. I try keeping it up once a month. But I think it serves several purposes.  

It surprised me in the beginning that people actually read them. Not all do. But some are faithful to read through them all, because - let's face it - our lives are fascinating to the outside world, and in this world, a lot of people do enjoy reading in general.

I thought you had left us to go over to "the dark side" lol Nice to see you back.

That and it gives me a chance to see what I could expect for a visit.

I think it's got potential, but you should recognize the potential conflict in goals of a blog (open book honesty vs marketing) and decide up front which way you want to go.  

I don't run a tell all/confessional type of blog. I write about my experiences in the kitchen and my favorite types of art. Admittedly, I haven't updated it in awhile, but potential and regular clients do enjoy reading it so they can learn more about me. And as Jasmine says, blog posts do improve your SEO

I  agree with Jamie re: Twitter.  I've enjoyed the local community that has developed on there, and there doesn't need to be a ton of thought put into a tweet (our president knows that well).  Just try to make it real and not a bunch of retweets of your ads.
