1. The heavy rain caused a one hour delay in traffic.  
2. Flash flooding by work.
3. Socks got wet and my shoes got wet. Had to buy new socks and am now waiting in a parking lot until they dry.  
4. Cocktails with the boys.  
5. Car accident, no damage, no police called.  
6. Ran into an old friend from college and had to catch up.  
7. Battery wouldn't start, had to get a jump.  
8. Boss asked me to stay late because a co-worker called in sick.  
9. I got a flat tire.  
10. Construction on 90/94.  

Any of the water related excuses are my favorite in terms of double entendres.
