Backpage clients call me every blue moon and I have met good clients on Backpage who pay my hourly for multi-hour dates. It's really based on the vibe you give. I don't fake luxury or class. It's really easy to post you are getting your PhD but not know what a dissertation is. It's really easy to say you like art, but have no idea about auction houses and the art market. Its really easy to say you're a foodie but not know what a Michelin star is. It's really easy to take professional photos in a luxurious loft/hotel that is not your incall. I see higher end clientle not because I'm elitist but it's what makes me feel the most comfortable and it gives me space. I'm not high volume so I can cater to my clientele where it's not a one time experience. Professional photos don't always signify class. Hobbyists probably read all kinds of ads of girls claiming to be this and that and see overly photoshopped photos of girls wearing lingerie with a Chanel bag and Louboutin(More of a Helmut Lang, Alexander Wang, and Issey Miyake girl) but that doesn't always resonate. I think all girls on Eros post about 300-1500 mid to high end. If a guy calls you for 60 dollar this or that just hang up time wasters cheap guys will bother everyone. Not screening puts you in danger for robbing and the horrible things you stated( very sorry to hear what happen to your friend). Also there are clients who see girls from Backpage and Eros interchangeably. There are hobbyists who see 250 providers and 500 providers its just based on the girl.
Ladies what places are you advertising in Chicago! Backpage is up for another take down And frankly just not my style anymore. Tired of the people who want it for free! Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

That site is better for me than Eros, but it's different for each lady so try as many different ad venues as you can. Link to their advertertising page is below.

I spent basically the past 5 of 7 weeks in Chicago (and going back soon)...
There are all sorts that advertise there and all sorts of guys who use BP. All you got to do is screen. Did it suck that I was getting 60-100 twer texts a day? Yeah, that was annoying. Did I find plenty of guys willing to pay 450$, keep me very busy, and do screening properly? Yes.
Honestly know very few "high end" ladies who don't also advertise on BP. It is a headache, yes. Can't throw everyone who uses it (guys or girls) in a group to judge.
And you will not have to worry about future advertising. When I did advertisine RS-AVS worked best for me for several reasons good clients, RS is wonderful and punctual.
If you enjoy the TER community there's a lot of gentleman here and the best promotion of yourself is having solid reviews from reputable gentleman, maintaining professionalism.
Depending on your verification process there is p411 it's not my preference, but probably some ladies do well and it is free to have a page and upgrades are available.
I don't have time or patience to deal with day of high volume calls and inquiries, but I do keep myself available to almost all gentleman I've seen before keeping a consistent, schedule, service, location, and promptly returning messages to known clients or those who have properly introduced themselves.

Best way to go. How I handle my base city. Then never got to advertise and deal with new people (unless they see reviews or p411 profile). Touring is different as attracting people never met before (minus my regs who live in Chicago but travel for work to WI). I think I have a very good base now from my last trip to IL but I guess timing is everything, so I shall see. I know quite a few already booked that I have seen before and a few others that are new to me. Likely I won't advertise at all this time.
Treat people well and promptly and they appreciate it.
I guess what i am trying to say is i need to replace lost long term people who are now out of country. I need to attract to new long term clients to replace them. Who will accept my price range. Bp was nothing but time wasters. $60 this and $140 quick that. Or show up and say i only have this. No i want long and sensual get me rockin type of fun!
Oh i have Had no problems keeping my regulars happy in fact very happy! Problem is they keep getting transferred out of country because of their jobs. I see mostly executives etc. My regulars have been very long term up to 10 years. So i guess they like me. I just need to replace a few who have been transferred. Preferably with ones who tip my fancy nut in the satisfaction category.

I agree. Its the pimps they are trying to take down though. A huge amount advertise only on backpage because its cheap. Its sad. Let the rest of us be. Totally agreeable! We spend lots of money too!
