Honestly, I read that post and thought "um, the Great Lakes are pretty varied  as far as location goes..." then I googled.  This is a case of "it's not you, it's me".

Indeed... not being a native and whatnot the terminology was simply lost on me, though the clarification hopefully helped my cause!
