Is there a new area code in Illinois?  Is it a burb area code?  I googled it and answered my own question, but what area is that? It's just states North in google...  Been receiving a creeper calls from this area code last night & today... Ugh ugh

Area Code 872 is an overlay for area codes 312 and 773.  In other words due to the proliferation of cell phones area codes 312 and 773 are essentially maxed out.  Unfortunately, creeps are everywhere.  Take Care

With the proliferation of cell phones and fax lines, numbers are running out all the time. Plus when you add in businesses hoarding numbers for their own use, you get this situation:
