On the verge of the anniversary of one of the greatest tragedies and acts of terrorism in American history, we are faced with yet another national disaster happening with Hurricane Katrina.  When these tragedies strike, the Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund is what helps these families survive and get a second chance to rebuild their lives.

All I can think of when I watch as an outside observer to these events is, "there, but before the grace of God, go I."  I feel lucky to have never been personally affected by such tragedy, but feel good knowing that there is an organization out there that makes a difference in these victims’ lives.  One of the reasons I support this fund is because you really never know when disaster will strike...there are unforeseen circumstances that we have no control over.  There are some things you can never prepare for...  How can I not help?  As I sit on my computer in my home, perfectly stable and unharmed by natural disaster...with all my belongings around me...how can I not give a few dollars to help those who have lost almost everything?

I hope some of you are able to find a few dollars as well...every little bit counts.  You can make donations directly at www.RedCross.org

As some of you know, I am hosting a fundraiser for the Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund and have a great list of guests already signed up.  This is a social event only...there will be karaoke, a silent auction and raffle and other fun events set in a private, secure location.  Every single cent raised at this event is going to the National Disaster Relief Fund.  No expenses are deducted...if I can't get something needed for the party donated, I am providing it out of my own pocket.  All monies raised in raffle, auction or other fundraising efforts *all* go towards this fund.  I feel this is a great way for us to socialize and have a great time, all the while supporting a worthy and noble cause.  If you are interested in learning more about this event, please see the link below.  Cut off for donations to get tickets to the fundraiser is Sept. 7...no exceptions.  References are required for anyone I do not know personally.

If you can't make it, please think about how fortunate we all are to be able to play in this realm...it is a luxury.  We all can afford to give at least $20 to help those in less fortunate circumstances.  Whether you are coming to the fundraiser, or sending your donations directly, please help support this important charity.

FYI-there are some great girls and guys already coming over from Chicago...hope more of you can make it!!
