Gift cards purchased at ...

Gift cards purchased at innocuous stores like Walgreens or Jewel using credit cards are how I wash my play money so the spouse cannot tell. I buy fixed denominations, usually $50, and keep them in their unopened packaging.

Some ladies call the 800 # to make sure they're valid. Before hand, make sure your lady accepts them. Not all do.
