a question on new law

Don't know if this was covered before. While first time conviction is stilll a msdemeanor, and only a second one is a class 4 felony,I just noticed that it says that a first conviction is a class 4 felont if within 1,000 feet of a school. Chicago has lots of neighborhood schools. How many feet in the average block?

Over the last week or so, i have received a handful of calls from guys i had not heard from in a long time.  With all this stuff going on, they are really nervous about using "unknown" services.  One of them admitted that with the economy what it has been, he has been shopping the "lower end" services on cl and bp more!  He also said that although he ran into 1-2 gems along the way, most were a waste of time and money.  He called after seeing Karina and was ecstatic!

So, if you are a little nervous about all this and you are not quite ready to start running for the hills yet, you might feel more comfy sticking with some of the proven safe options like MTA or .....Apropo, Secretly Yours, Michelles, etc..... and many of the wonderful independents that Chicago has to offer.... Sage, Bebe Doll, Amber Lynn, JC..... just to name a few!

Most blocks are equal to 1/8 of a mile. So from Montrose 4400 N. to Foster 5200 N. is 1 mile. My bit of useless info for the day.

hmmm... i always considered a block 1/10 of a mile... no biggie i guess...   now i have a car so distance isn't considered anymore.. only time.  :)

and after seeing the 'burbs... some of those 'blocks' go on for miles... yikes!

How they would know I have a car. I can say I ride the Bus.. I will leave the keys in the car.
Impounded means a penalty of $2000 to get it back correct.

If you leave the keys in the car, presumably then you leave the door unlocked.  Not sure I would do that in Chicago, certainly not with my car anyway.

I would love to get a better answer to this but (a) if you have the keys in your pocket the cops can find your car (probably), (b) if you leave the car with a valet or at a garage, you will have the valet ticket or garage ticket on you and they will find it when they search you.  

The only way to keep your car relatively safe is if you have a remote unlock capability and can lock your keys safely inside the car, and then remotely unlock the car with your cell phone.  Of course, if the cops have the place staked out you are screwed because they will see you park too.

I think the safest play is to take a cab (this law must be great for cabbies!)
