It's my first time in California! It is definitely a beautiful area I would really love to find some lush places to explore the wilderness. Hopefully the rain holds off. Any suggestions?

The American river bike trail is nice for a hike.  Be careful around Cal Expo, much safer by Sunrise boulevard.  

Lake Natomas is also nice.
