I’ve got one Provider who doesn’t mind, but she wants to maintain her hair and makeup, so we (that is, I) gotta be a little careful.
Met another today who didn’t want to, but I suspect for the same hair & makeup reason - she had to be somewhere afterward (NOT that this took /anything/ away from the session; OMG she was /wonderful/).
So maybe Hair & Makeup is the main reason many don’t want to? That and time constraints maybe?

It appears though that the majority of ladies prefer not to, which I completely understand and respect. It *does* tend to have an effect on makeup and hair. I don't particularly mind (waterproof mascara works wonders) but everyone is different. However, it's important that it only happen organically when the vibe supports.
I don't recommend asking your date -- that puts the provider in an awkward position if they prefer to decline. Let her bring it up. Most women will let you know if they want to.

And, this is, perhaps, one of my biggest issues on the East Coast. Whereas I could potentially have any fetish or spur of the moment request fulfilled LMA, this board limits that action to the very basics. It is common practice to offer a shower following the visit on the West Coast; here it is an anomaly. To be honest I can't wait to get back to my west coast gals!

I encourage gents to shower before play time, and after if they want, plus I'm lots of fun in a garden tub. I have little extras for my gentlemen friends such as battery operated candles (and other battery operated things, lol) fresh towels and toiletries, massages and so much more.

If I'm given a heads up about a start-up shower, I'm delighted! Afterwards, throw a towel on the bed for my wet hair and we'll continue the fun. My hair is little or no maintenance and nothing brings a smile my face more than a request to dress casually with no makeup!
I do wish more ladies (and gents) felt that way.

My favorite style of dress for my date is casual. I think it's very hot for her to wear cotton bikini panties and a tight sweatshirt or tank top. I especially like a tank top with large arm holes that I can pull each side over her breasts and have them poking out of the arm holes. Hard nipples look their hottest when poking out the front of a T-shirt. Just plain fun and sexy because it takes me back to the old days when I was dating the GND or classmate. And if she has some neatly trimmed fur on her kitty then I'll be in heaven.

Before my Nuru's we always take a nice playful shower. I love to play in the shower.
I need notice ahead of time because hair and makeup + the fact that I shower before my dates.
Also, there is a functional reason I ask clients to shower before our time together.... I would like you to be clean. If we shower together, I am going to make sure that the hygiene is not an issue. This may mean actually scrubbing your balls with soap and a washcloth (I personally use washcloths when I shower, though at time I question if this is the norm given some folks hygiene issues). So that part may not be super sexy.
The same would go for a bathtub.
I have, on more than several occasions, had to send someone back to the shower. Rinsing off does not work. Soap + water does.
After showers together are probably my preference, because of this.
I am sorry if my honesty does not come across as wanton sexiness. If it helps, I do give great BBBJs which can get especially sloppy if that’s the kind you like, so you’ll probably want to shower afterwards anyway (especially if you are committed or have somewhere to go). We can do it together then and make it as sexy and playful as you’d like.
