I looked into getting verified by Date Check and Preferred 411, and also for some local agencies. They want employment information in order to verify, but I'm retired, and don't have any way to satisfy that requirement.  

Any ideas of what to do? Are providers who usually ask for verification services willing to use other means for us retired guys?

They will be helpful. I will not repeat again because I do not need the brain damage that will come with it.

In fact I just saw a gent who is retired from his job of 30+ years.

I would palce retired in the employment question.  As far as I can tell, they never call the place of emplyment.
