Ok, ya'll, NC has so many cool places to visit. I'd like to make a "road trip" for a change of scenery in the next couple of weeks.

Any ideas of areas that might welcome me there? For those that don't know, I'm based in the Raleigh area.

I love the NC mountains, though maybe they are too rural for what you are looking for??  Asheville is a very funky, interesting town, and the area around it has incredible natural beauty ... just like you!
