What do you consider "poor" and why?  I know that both appearance and performance can be relative to tastes and to experience level, so where do you draw the line?  Is it 6?  7?  8?  I mean 6/6 is Nice looks/Nice time... is that bad?  

Does price have anything to do with your perception of "poor" or "great"?  In other words, if you saw two ladies whose appearance and performance was roughly equal, but one was $250 and one was $400, would you score them the same?  Why?

Is appearance the driving factor?  Will that make you overlook lower performance scores?  Or, does it make you nervous, LOL?  I read a recent post on another board from a guy who seemed to feel that ladies with 10s in appearance would be so into themselves that his enjoyment would suffer??  Go figure!  (that could be a whole different thread, LOL)

I for one, don't like the rating system, but it is what we have.  Do you think both the ladies and the guys get too hung up on the numbers?

As far as price, the hobby is no different than any other economic transaction in that price influences value perception and higher dollar ladies are always going to be held to a higher standard.

Generally speaking however, after a certain dollar threshold, unique to each hobbyist is passed, the law of diminishing marginal utility will always set in whereby the additional pleasure derived from each additional dollar spent is deemed not to be worth the trade off.  

These subjective dollar thresholds differ for each hobbyist individually. Collectively, they make up the market place.  For some guys this means they feel there’s no reason to drop $500 when in their estimation, they can have an equally pleasurable experience for $300. For Eliot Spitzer, it might be the difference between $2k and $3k. And for Felix from backpage, perhaps it means he feels he can get off just as well for $40 vs. $50.  

Everyone, be they purchasing widgets or hookers always seek to maximize marginal utility. If a hobby fairy were to award each gentleman on this board $2500 with the caveat that it had to be earmarked for expenditure on escorts, while they may be inclined to spend more than they would under normal circumstances, I suspect the guys who would elect to blow it all on a single visit would still be in the minority and that most would opt for multiple visits / multiple ladies.

It might be unfashionable to talk about money and nobody wants to be perceived as cheap but everyone always seeks to get the greatest bang for their buck, even if they do a poor job doing so.

With respect to ratings, context is always important for me since most gentlemen develop their own baselines which only have meaning when viewed as part of their review history’s framework; a respected reviewer’s score of 8 will certainly be more influential in an astute hobbyist’s decision making than the smitten newbie who awards the same lady a 10 or the asshole with an axe to grind who scores punitively just to be a dick

I've heard that a lot of women get high reviews through discounts, intimidation, blackmail, ect.  It's kind of unfair for the rest of us who don't try to influence our clients to give us good reviews.  I've heard other providers complain so many times about getting a 7 in appearance when a 7 is attractive.  So with so many women that are rated 8 and above, anything below an 8 is seen as bad or average by the hobby world.

Solid post. I agree. Reviewers who rate tough on looks are the only reason I'm here. And the ones who are hard asses and hobby a lot in different areas are solid gold. There aren't many of the latter, but the ones I've found have saved me some bummer experiences. If I see a 9 from a hard ass, I can be pretty damn sure I'll be happy. Same thing with an 8 if she is my type. TBH, I'm in this for the super hot chicks and nothing bums me out more than showing up and seeing someone who isn't a knockout. But then I am shallow like that. Happened once before I figured things out and I still kick myself over it. That being said, I don't review a lot so I'm shallow and a leech.... Oh well... And lucky for me I'm a square so performance isn't really important.

Yes I would be more inclined to see someone with 9s over someone with 7s and 8s if the donation is the same but at the same time I see some ladies that get 9s and 10s on appearance that really don't float my boat.  Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder

I think that performance scores are a little less subjective because you can't earn a 10 without providing certain things but as always YMMV.

I recently saw a girl with multiple 10s on appearance (review coming soon) Yes she really deserves the appearance scores. Her performance scores are a little lower and I went in expecting what you mentioned above that  " would be so into themselves that his enjoyment would suffer??" and it was totally the opposite and I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun she was.

Yes people get too hung up on numbers for the obvious reasons. I tend to stick with girls that get consistent ratings that average 8+ and who's pictures fit what I am looking for at the time. If her looks are not what i'm looking for 50+ 10/10 reviews would probably not get me to go see her, and I would consider seeing a 7/7 if I really like what I see.

The best thing about the hobby is that there are so many great ladies, unless you are a retired millionaire, you can find more than enough ones you want to see!

Sure, I read them, but I get just as interested by and intrigued in ladies who have lots of posts to read.  Boards like this, Twitter, etc are excellent resources. I can get a sense for who someone is by what they post in most cases, and I have not been disappointed.  If there is drama and complication, I know to steer clear.  If a lady says something interesting and intelligent sounding, chances are I am going to want to meet her. Simple.

I hope all of you realize you are in one of the cheapest markets for this type of hobby.
