I agree entirely. It really does hurt everyone too. There are providers (I'd like to meet) who won't travel b/c they don't know what to expect in other cities, or because they have traveled here recently and had most of their appointments cancel on them. It's not only causing providers to travel less, but it also takes up their time. Personally, I plan my time around work and required events/appointments. These ladies scheduling their lives around their work, as all of us do. I really don't like it when people unnecessarily take up my time. And I HATE when I put one thing off for work/to make money and it doesn't come through because of someone else.

Why schedule if you don't have the funds or aren't certain that you can make it? It's one thing if something comes up, like you're sick, have an unexpected meeting or family matter to attend to, but it's fairly inconsiderate otherwise. As with anything, that happens.

I have been told by several providers in the Triangle that they are recently having tons of last minute cancellations. Some have traveled from far out of town and then have all but one appointment cancel.

Is this a bigger problem recently? Is it occurring throughout the Carolinas?  Why make an appointment if you can't go? In hard times I would think that the # of appoinments would drop but not necessarily the # of cancellations increase.

My personal take is that I can understand if money is tight for clients. But it's also tight for providers. I think it's unfair to make and appointment and cancel without ample notice. It isn't as though this is a cancellation of a lawyers appointment where the service provider has other things to do if you cancel.  It's more like making an appointment with an electrician and just not being home when he comes over and he/she has wasted his time and money driving around finding your house.  It's unfair and makes it bad for everyone else who needs electrical service.

So if you are doing this stop it.

Anyone else's two cents?  I'd like to hear both sides.

Yes many ladies/agencies have been complaining about the cancellation problem in Raleigh area. And the problem didn't just start in the past few months; has been a problem for the past year but seems to be getting worse.
Is costing Raleigh/RTP area the visits by many great ladies and also causing some of the locals to have to look elsewhere for income.

I know that I personally try not to make any appointment unless I know I can be available to follow thru.  That said -- with the job market the way it is I know that some employers are making it tougher and tougher to 'get away' from the office.

i agree with you totally it's disrespectful to set an appt with a provider for a certain time and then wait till 5 or 10 mins before to cancel that provider could have  another appt set up in case the first one canceled with enough ample time. Like you said if you knew your money was funny why set the appt in the first place not only did you waste her time but also her money because she could had a back up ready to go. it's not that hard to realize that your bills come first extra curricular activities will always be there.  yeah i know some providers do no call no shows as well but think of it this way you saved yourself from spending  money you know you needed for something else. i don't know if it's a problem throughout the carolinas but i do know raleigh has it's fair share of no call no shows and cancellations if this keeps up all that will be left is providers that are strung out on drugs and run by pimps and advertising on less than suitable sites.Treat these ladies with respect and the triangle will one again become a fav spot providers love to visit.

...travel to ASHEVILLE!  We have so few travelling providers come through I'm sure with prior notice the locals here would pony up for a good visit for a reliable good provider.

Sick of hearing about this stuff happening in Raleigh on both boards.  What a bunch of freaking babies.  Don't make an appt you can't keep.  Simple enough or give plenty of notice out of respect to your provider. Cmon

Ladies start travelling where you will be appreciated both monetarily, emotionally and physically!

First and foremost this is just part of the hobby life, unfortunately. Some ppl may have to cancel at the last minute for valid reasons (an ad-hoc meeting at work, a family member is sick etc....). Personally I try to ensure that when I make an appt I block it out on my calender so no one will schedule a meeting at work (I just put 'unavailable' and if they really want to know why they can ask me and I have an excuse).

I can think of 2 times (in my 10+ yrs of hobbying) that I had to cancel at the last minute. One was a case where my nephew got stung by a bee and had to be rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately the school called me cause his mom & dad were out of state. And just recently my daughter woke up in the morning with soar throat and I had to take her to the doc (strep throat). In both cases I called the provider and explained the situation ASAP and even offered to give them a little $ to compensate for the inconvenience (neither of them took me up on the offer).

If it's a chronic issue then the ladies should be back channeling via their provider boards on guys who NCNS or cancel last minute and then others will know what to expect.

I remember a few years ago in Boston there was a rash of cancellations. Conjecture was that a local lady or agency was having clients call up and make appts and then having them NCNS to kind of keep the traveling ladies away. Again that is just conjecture and back channel noise, I have no proof one way or the other.

Ladies?  Is is possible for you to talk among yourselves and see who the cancelations are coming from?   Is this an "inside job" as described above?  I really don't know how much providers talk to each other and I suspect that the visiting ladies do even less than the locals.

Is this NCNS occurring both with the visiters and local providers?

Are they known hobbyists or people you never heard from before who aren't on TER etc?

Via other boards..back channeling..emailing. Guys that are canceling n alot of girls..it will catch up with you. Providers need to learn to check out our sites that are made for this reason..to see if a client is a NCNS..or has canceled in the past.

Its alot easier for the men I think to see if a girl cancels alot as you can just come on the board and post it. And of course thats not an opinion for us...but we do talk. Its unfair to both parties unless it is a circumstance beyond control.

I go to great efforts to make an appointment I can keep, and have only canceled once, two days before the appointment.  However, I have been NCNS many times from providers.  I do hear from the girls that NCNS from hobbyist has become common, which is BS.. IMHO.

I have never been NCNS by a provider.  I have had a provider move a date back by two hours, but that was due to her kid and I knew ahead of time it might be an issue as I had seen this provider in the past.  However, she gave me notice and I worked around it.

First off I agree with everything that has been said, appointments should be taken seriously, while the one-in-a-million family emergency is certainly a justifiable reason to cancel, the frequency with which it has occurred in Raleigh, Charlotte and other cities according to providers I've heard from is not acceptable.

I am curious, though, that the conversation has been all one way.  What about the provider who cancels at the last minute or, heaven forbid, no shows.  Unfortunately I have experienced that on more occasions than I care to remember, it is just as inconvenient for the hobbyist who has set aside time in an often busy schedule to all of a sudden find out his long-awaited appointment won't be happening.  And while last minute substitutions/ alternatives may be available they are not optimal and may not deliver the same experience the hobbyist had been counting on.

Curious if any of my brother hobbyists out there have experienced the same thing, or is it just me?

I have had a extremely well reviewed provider (NOT a Carolina provider)cancel twice in succession.  The first time was said to be due to a airline delay in departing NYC.  As my appointment was for only a few hours later than the scheduled arrival, I can only guess if the reason given was valid. While she did cancel in time for me to abort my trip to her home city it was only after I mailed early to confirm - not proactively. So OK, could be just one of those days for her when everything went wrong.  It happens when touring.
So tried again (like I said this girl's PR is GOOD) - this time in answer to a posted offer for a dinner date (4 hour special) booked weeks in advance - again, another cancellation - this time the cancellation was due to a need to supervise some reconstruction due to water damage and again was notified only in response to my sending the hotel outcall info. No offer of reschedule, raincheck, nada.
I wrote back to say that I was disappointed and got a BIG push-back reply.
Obviously - I'm done with her.  Pretty is, as pretty does.

Sure, I've had cancellations occassionally and I can remember one no show but I disagree with you that it's "just as inconvenient for the hobbyist"  In both cases people are stood up and disappointed but only in one case does someone lose money (unless the hobbyist has traveled a long distance and is waiting in a hotel room that he paid for) The provider has often put out $ in anticipation of a payoff and then is stood up. Also it's the providers basic income not play time that is lost.

My 2 cents

I have had two no-shows and one cancellation.

All three of them involved about a 30-minute drive and a chunk out of the middle of my day.

I never called any of the three back.

I once missed an appointment because I didn't get a text on a Thursday afternoon confirming our appointment Friday morning. She swore she sent it; I never saw it. I took responsibility for the error and I did my best to make it up to her the next time we met.

I have never cancelled an appointment with a provider and have only had 1 cancel on me.

Guess I'm one of the few lucky ones

I guess Im one of the good ones.  Raleigh is where I go to hobby primarily due to having few options in my area.  I was just down there last weekend.

Since I am coming from out of town, it would be stupid for me to make an appt and then cancel.
