I don't know what made me think of this, but has anyone ever used the barter system in this business?  I'm not sure what would even be acceptable.  Concert or game tickets?  Gift certificates?  Would anyone go as far as offering "trade" in professional services?  I'm not in IT, but could imagine that it might be worth something to have someone set up a web page.

I know a couple of providers who use bartering routinely. One of the providers uses an attorney, and a dentist. Another, got some carpentry and painting done. Nothing wrong with that. It's been done for centuries in America.

and once for 50 yd line tickets to a Patriots-Dolphins game.

I've had a lot of use out of the TV, but it was really fun to watch the Pats kick butt, too.

One of my favorite barter requests came from a would-be client who worked at Home Depot. For a 3-hr appointment, he wanted to trade me a John Deere tractor.

Guess it would handy to mow the bush, LOL

I've heard of botox, facial peels, and other expensive procedures, car repair, and other things being very beneficial for both parties. A win/win.

If the provider can provide an appointment to a guy who buys the products and spends time or skill doing his thing, it can end up costing her much less in the long run if she's going to get something done anyway, and saves him money as well. The agreement has to be up front so there are no gray areas. Otherwise it's a recipe for disaster IMO.

some practical (a certified mechanic or dentist), some not (high end electronics).  I have thought about putting a page on my website specifying some of my wishes, but then second guess that inclination each time.

TER does not allow us to mention things we will barter for in ads though.
