Ultimately we're all under an alias. If he wants to use an alias that's his right, and there are many legit reasons to. Others can make their own decision whether or not to respond with info. Doesn't mean he is a cop or a psycho etc. He still has to give his info eventually and be screened, so who cares?
Because in the past, guys have used aliases to stalk providers. Because some people use aliases to post rude and hurtful shit without "tainting" their regular username. Because some providers don't want to respond to an ISO when they can't see the guy's review history. Because many alias-ISO guys have proven to be just time wasters
I'm talking about someone asking for simple information and people attacking the person just because they are using an alias. I'm saying that isn't a good enough reason to give someone shit. I'm not talking about the reasons you listed. And for that matter, someone posting or looking for info and they have no reviews isn't reason enough to give them shit either. Someone having no reviews or posting history doesn't mean anything. Not everyone is a board whore. Not everyone writes reviews. And like I said before, when someone posts under an alias looking for simple information, that isn't reason enough to attack them. Other people can decide whether to respond or not. I've had many good clients come out of responding to ISO posts from people with no posting history or reviews, or are posting under an alias. Just recently I was talking to a client and he mentioned how when he travels he always asks for recommendations under an alias because he's tired of dealing with catty, possessive ladies. We all know the negative reasons a person uses an alias. I'm just stating that when someone is looking for information, in a clear, tasteful, respectful way, and they just happen to use an alias, its getting really old seeing the same replies all the time that are basically giving the person hard time and making negative assumptions.
and I didn't attack the OP for using an alias. You asked why people jump all over an alias user, and I listed some of the reasons. I didn't say they were right, wrong, justified, or not.
The only times I get annoyed with aliases are when they are being assholes, or when they seem to be looking to scam information.
& I certainly didnt mean to provoke anything other than some intel. IMO I should be prepared with appropriate credentials at appropriate times, various regional boards where I am not nor do I intend to become a member of the community is a good time for an alias of a alias. Having used this strategy in the past I have been able to exceed expectations and save hours of research. My bad.
