With warm weather here, I'm already thinking of ideas on how to cool off and still enjoy the outdoors.  Do you have a favorite swimming hole with shade and great views? Waterfalls? River bank?  No beaches, please.

I take my dog to Lake Norman State Park to swim for the day. Set out on the trail, find a nice little beachy area, claim and set up! I've my lounge chair, backpack of various supplies and lunch, a good book and we spend the day! We also spend a lot of time at USNWC.

Try Dupont state forest near Brevard. Also a lot of swimming holes near Sliding Rock. Oh must stop at Dollys for Ice Cream.
