I am thinking we need a course in common sense 101. Discretion is the key in the hobby. And one other thing guys, find out from the lady where the elevators are, they arent always obvious in all hotels. Its not good to be asking questions wondering around the lobby. Look like you belong.
times I have walked past the front desk and up a stairwell because the elevator wasn't obvious. Somehow its always easier to find an elevator when you don't feel like you are being watched. Just make sure the 'Exit' door you open is in a stairwell and doesn't lead directly outside. Second trip through the lobby in 5 minutes might raise a few eyebrows.
As Julia, etc., et. al. knows I HATE, I HATE, I HATE Lobby walks---My trench coat, dark sunglasses, gloves, and hat pulled way down makes me feel invisible, BUT........( I WILL NOT go into a SMALL LOBBY, NYET!, NOPE!, NOT GONNA DO IT!!! and Elevator location---exact!!! is a MUST before I venture into the maze!!! I don't even park in the right parking lot to do my notice that I have arrived---nearby, but not in where I am going, as it takes FOREVER to get calls back and forth, and Sitting there humming and singing to myself, while glancing all around---got me in trouble doing that in the shower, if anyone remembers---I tend to attract passerbyers glances( Guest to Lobby Staff:" Hey, there's a guy out there singing and humming and rocking back and forth, you might want to keep an eye on!!!" Sweating just thinking about it!!! I like my lil houses that are secluded and not in ear shot of neighbors listening to the lady "sing" at the top of her lungs) LUV! lil songbirds;P~~~ Lil Bit, Daisy Bell, SexyBailey all do a mean Halleluyah Course!!!)
Whether or not you call from the lobby really depends on the configuration of the lobby itself. Some are extensive, with lots of private nooks from which a call can be made without attracting attention. I particularly like hotels where the second floor has only ballrooms and conference rooms, which are typically unused and not watched by hotel security, doormen, etc. If the lobby is really crowded, a discreet call can easily be made, so long as you're out of earshot of anybody. If none of these conditions apply you should call from the street. When you do, ask if there are any quirks re elevator location. For example, some hotels have two towers with separate elevator banks and you need to know which one to go to. I've seen lots of top providers and very few of them will tell you that unless you ask. Whatever you do, don't be the guy on the cell phone in the lobby, loudly saying, "What's the room number again? 504??? OK I'll be up in a minute, babe! Can't wait to see you! 504!"
That sounds like a rookie mistake. I think I am smart enough to realize you shouldn't do that but I do like the idea of asking where the elevators are. Funny when I stay at a hotel I look at how someone could come visit....strange huh?
Last summer I was staying at a certain well known resort right off I-85 in Greensboro. I invited a lovely young lady over for a few hours. As she walked out the door she asked, "Which way to the elevators again?" It was after midnight so I thought no problem walking down the hallway wearing the hotel provided robe to show her the elevator. As I returned to my room I realized that I left the room without my keycard. So I had to go down to the lobby in my robe and barefeet and walk the long walk of shame, and at this hotel it is a LONG walk, to the checkout desk to get another key. Fortunately, it was a weeknight so I didn't run into other guests, but there were a few employees and even though they didn't show it I could feel their inward mockery...

I can't stop laughing!!!
I had another friend who ran into the maid when he was leaving one day and she asked if "we" needed more towels, to which he replied, "Si." He then called to tell me that the maid would be bringing towels... and I just laughed because I had to explain to him why sending the maid to your hooker's room is NOT a good idea, considering what she was wearing went you left her ~ sex hair and all!
You men really don't think with the right head most of the time, do you? LOL!!!
Too funny ! I am driving by there later today, as I often do on the way from Charlotte to Raleigh?durham...now every time I go by I will picture that scene...
reminds me of a time I was meeting a lady and had adjoining rooms in a nice lodging place..(not a hobby lady, but not someone I was "supposed" to be with, but that is another story. Anyway, she comes in all nighty and silk, lets the adjoining door slam shut behind her...now she is locked out of her room..in my room...in let's say. not professional outdoor attire.
Had to call security, get them to spring the little security bar...and attempt to explain why she was in my room, and would not come out of the bathroom..!
If I ever need an attny, I will call you, doesn't matter that you may not be one, BUT, if you can talk your way around that "next door girl in my bathroom, dressed, um, scantily " you can BS anything---LOL
Guess my city-slicker background clouded my judgement! No, really, I also go to some of the smaller chain hotels and would never dream of calling from the lobby.
You men really don't think with the right head most of the time, do you? LOL!!!
men aren't the only ones not guilty of thinking clearly, I once met a lady for lunch and when we went back to the room her key wouldn't work, but it was because she was trying to use a key card from the wrong hotel
