This is just a question more for my curiosity, but why don't more women have video on their sites? I ask because I work in the tv industry and we monitor hits on video embeds, and they are off the charts compared to a picture of the same thing.
am extremely protective of my privacy, especially these days. And as someone that does not show their face in pictures, and especially does not show any body art, which if I did would make it really easy to recognize me in real life, its impossible for me to take many "candid" pictures for the board, much less even think about video. I have to get professional pictures done mainly to make sure that I have anything identifying edited out, and as much as I'd love to take quick easy candid pics, especially lately, its really hard. So video? No way. For those that do porn, or don't worry/care about being recognized on the street, more power to them. Those closest to me know what I do, thankfully, but still. I lead a very normal, busy, high visibility life outside this hobby, and I personally can't imagine making it any easier for the crazies to give me a hard time! I'm at peace with the fact that one day my current job might come back to haunt me in real life, because of the web, but in the meantime I'm going to do my best to keep it separate. But yes, to answer your question, absolutely! Privacy! lol
To recognize someone from pictures much less video. I ran into another provider I have never met before Saturday night at a spot I'm at regularly. As soon as she stared at me I knew she recognized me and I immediately knew who she was. I have had guys come up to me in public and call me by my other name around friends just off pictures. So its very hard to be discrete with pics but video throws discretion out the window.
I'm a film/video professional and assuming you have the same budget as professional photos that are retouched, video can be made just as private - in fact more so with the right camera, editing and retouching skills. I do work in commercials, music videos and film including visual FX - many visual FX are invisible, removing everything from pimples off faces to unwanted logos, signs and much more. Plus good camera and editing planning means you avoid that to start with.
Plus video is infinitely more powerful on the marketing side and far more traffic. That's why Superbowl ads cost millions, the right video ad is priceless in it's power to marketing.
I've noticed no providers have video either but I think it's likely because no one has explored how to do it right (e.g. not like a porn film or even a playboy then - but like a sexy, mysterious commercial).
You are probably right, as I don't know that the video would necessarily get me more attracted than the still visuals. However, Julia, if you would like to send me some videos to objectively critique and let you know if it would help your marketing, feel free..>
Some ladies do have introduction videos on their sites. I just don't feel that a faceless video (as would have to be the case for me) would add any value to my marketing strategy.
If I did it it would not be faceless - use of close-ups of eyes, lips, use if silhoutte and dramatic lighting would keep it 100% anonymous but very sexy and real at the same time. I think it would be far more effective than still because it involves sound, music, movement and beautiful images. It would give people a much better sense of who you are and what your bring to the table while protecting your identity in better than even stills.
And you could do a couple of shots to demonstrate that it is definitively you and not some model or stock footage. Plus reviews here etc. would confirm. Speaking of stock, could not find exactly what I was looking for but this are kind of show a bit of what is possible. I know I would find this a big factor in choosing a provider.
My impression from feedback that I've seen from hobbyists is that they prefer no sound on a website. Many of them are viewing sites while at work and home, so a sexy lady's voice and/or sexy music playing is the background isn't something that would go over well. I am sure there would be a small market for it, but not for the majority, IMHO.
Nobody like sounds or music that comes on automatically that you can't control - no disagreement from me. But just like Youtube, a video has playback controls that allow the website visitor to a) start the playback and b) mute the sound before playing. so I don't think that objection really applies anymore than viewing provider sites at work which is also technically a violation at most work environments.
I'm not trying to convince you per se - but as I work in the multimedia and web field, video is by far the #1 driver of marketing traffic on the web by a long shot. As well in broadcast, news etc. Just a fact as people perceive and trust video more than print or text - as more "real". Nike is Nike because they do great TV ads, not because of the shoes they make.

There are also more than enough friends here that can verify my pictures as being completely accurate. There are too many flaws in them to even attempt saying that they're touched up at all. LOL I love professional pictures, with NO enhancements. What you see is what you get!
