Yes it is true you are trying to make yourself more alkaline instead of acidic. The more acidic the less tasty you are. The more fruits and vegies you eat the less acidic you are. Eat and enjoy the licking.

Here is a really good example of the way vegies make you taste. When you eat Asparagus  the smell (and taste) goes thru you really fast and you can smell it when you pee. So if you are going out don't have fish for dinner or you guessed it, Damn that taste like fish LOL

I think the part about smoking is spot on. I always suspected that smoking had an effect on the er ... "taste" and I even thought I could tell the difference, but I always chalked it up to my own biases. Besides, I could never get enough woman to agree to let me do a blind taste test to prove my hypothesis. Some of those slaps still sting!

..... I do taste pretty good ... cheers to drinking lots of water and lots of fruit and cutting out red meat entirely at least lol.  
I plan to be like 90% vegetarian by end of this year hmmmm.

I think there's more to it that that. My first wife was vegetarian and macrobiotic. She had a strong copper taste (which never slowed me down in the least-lol). Another woman I was with after that marriage, ate mostly meat and seafood, lots of coffee and smoked. She tasted like honey (oh, Lord!). I think overall health is more important and there are other factors that you will never know about affecting your smell and taste.
To me personally, if you are healthy you smell and taste great and I love you!
