There are several mid - upscale hotels in that area.  Its almost like a hotel mall.  It should be fairly easy to stay in the same general area but move hotels every couple of days if necessary.  Its also easily accessible by highway and is centrally located between metro Charlotte and the bedroom communities to the north. There are also several decent dining establishments in the area, and of course the mall if you happen to need a little something extra that you might have forgotten.

Hop on over to Raleigh... the Crabtree area and RTP seem to be safe.
