I agree with the masses on this one. Be warned, I spent 3 nights there between Christmas and New Years last year and it was very crowded. Try and go after the Gingerbread House Competition has been judged. Try and get a room in the Main Lodge. The F. Scott Fitzgerald room is a prime spot.

a hotel (or whatever) to have a romantic two day tryst.  I am looking for someplace that still goes all out with the Christmas decorations like every place did 40 years ago.  I am planning to do this in early to mid-December.  I don't care where in the Carolinas.  I will be coming from Charlotte.  If you know of such a place in Charlotte---great! I am willing to drive anywhere in the Carolinas.

... you probably can't beat the Biltmore Estate in Asheville.  A bit pricey so be prepared for sticker shock if you check into it!

Yes, I have.  Do you know of any B&B's that go all out for Christmas?  A previous Christmas tryst at a B&B in Indiana gave me the idea for this one.

Been to Red Rocker up in Black Mountain.  tastefully decorated.  And a slightly better chance of snow.

A little out of the way but well worth it

Or the

Oh damn whats the name of the place in Ashville...
Great golf course
spa.
Old Historic mansion in the mountains...
( Rock foundation)
Damn I hate it when that happens!

It's magnificant and the spa is to die for. They go all out for the holidays.

for a 3 day honeymoon stay at the resort. We had a wonderful time.....except for her snoring,  LOL

There is a very nice hotel on property & the winery is always fun. The house will be decorated to the max & the will have carolers as well.

BUT......if you want something that is a little different, decorated very classy, & is romantic & special......you may try The Wentworth Mansion (link attached) in Charleston. Very romantic in a great city full of romantic restaurants.

The bad news???? Both are pricey...........

Good Luck !!!

Yep.. that is the one........... Love this place!

As posted by several you can't go wrong w/ either a trip to Biltmore or Grove Park Inn.  Grove Park Inn will be decorated to the utmost for the holidays...they also usually have a display of ginger bread house decorations that are fabulous...top winners were featured on national TV last year.  Live music in the lobby/lounge/restaurant.  Spa is outstanding.  Not sure how Biltmore Inn decorates but the Biltmore House is a TREAT you won't want to miss...especially if you can get night time candlelight passes - can attend Biltmore House without staying at the Inn.

Charleston is one of my favorite places...went there for Christmas about 20 yrs ago...fabulous place, check out some of the small historic hotels for best results.
