The rite of spring all is right with the world for a few hours. Can't beat a live game, the bueatifully manicure field, the crack of the bat, all the little things going on at one time. Things the passive spectator won't notice that make what can a good game seem like a chess match, subtle shift of the infielders, a good catcher framing a pitch, it's really more of a mental game than other sports. As the late Bart Giamatti said " the games designed to break you're heart it blossoms in the spring and thrives in the warm summer air, but as the blue skies turn gray with winters arrival it goes away when you need it most"
Yeah I know that's some deep stuff coming from me. Gotta disagree with ya though fair lady, defiantly the Braves year this year!! I'm a glutton for punishment!!

the Mississippi River. The one player I wish I could've seen play.

As far as the Reds, I did see Johnny Bench's last homer in Busch Stadium. Monster smash to left.

early in the season staying near Turner Field & going up in the hotel elevator a Braves fan said to one of his buds "I just feel like this is the Braves' year'; as a dedicated Washington Nationals fan, I bit my tongue & didn't say what I was thinking, which was 'Better watch out for our guys'.  And we know how it turned out, NATS NL East Champs.  Went to the opener yesterday & watched Harper hit 2 HRs and Strasburg mesmerize the Marlins.  So I know the Braves mad a few moves but so did the NATS & they're a better team than the one that had the best record in baseball last year.  A lot can happen, injuries, etc., but I think the Braves will miss Chipper more than they think and I'm looking forward to attending a couple World Series games in October!
But I agree it's wonderful that baseball season is finally underway, just wish the darn weather would start acting like it's Spring!  30 degrees this Morning in DC!

All I can say is its gonna be fun to watch how it unfolds this year. You're right the Nats are gonna be the team to beat in the NL East this year. Def a big hole to fill with Chipper gone, and Bryce Harper is a freak. What is he like 19? If he stays healthy gonna have an awesome career same with Strasburg. Great thing about opening day everybody's in first place. I'm too stubborn to say you're right, but I do think it will go down to the wire between those 2 or at least it should.
