I believe they ladies of hit on something that you and I agree upon Roadie. I hate to say like this. But, it doesn't seem to be an issue of what generation. You might have grown up in. So much as it is. Basic human curtsey! That is to say, how you were brought up.
If you stop and think about it. Sometimes, it depends on how your raised. Or perhaps if you served in the Military. Saying yes Sir or "Yes, Ma'am" is a sign of respect and a common curtsey. My parents brought me up right. Hell, I was even put through a course on edict. So, that I would know how to use all sixteen pieces of silverware. The proper subjects to discuss and so forth. Due to my fathers involvement with various government officials. Then going into the military. A lot of those things I had already learned. Were permanently sewn into my very being. Perhaps, some people call it being old fashioned. Being polite and curtious to anyone. Even someone who chooses to not return it. Is just the right thing to do.
Treating people as you would like to be treated falls along the "Golden Rule" line. As my esteemed Mr. Roadshow noted in his question. I would presume that if you are going through the trouble to make an appointment days in advance. That you would call and let your date know that you are indeed on your way. Because, just as Ms. Amsterdam pointed out. Plans change, issues come up unexpectedly, an such is the chaos that is life for some of us!
By taking a moment to call an let your date know. I should be there in a couple of hours. I will touch base with you again. Once, I get to XYZ exit. That way if say there is accident or congestion on the highway due to an accident or construction. You both are covered.
Recently, I had a situation come up. Where I had to take a family member to the hospital and thus was running late for a appointment. Traffic was also compounding this problem. I called and alerted the provider to what was had occurred and that I would be hour later then I had intended to be. Sadly, she had other plans for the evening and wouldn't be able to still see me. However, because of the fact that I had been curtious enough to call an hour before my appointment. I was then able to make an appointment for the next day! I had a wonderful time. She even had the Lingerie on that I had requested of her.
I realize that not all providers have the ability to make changes to their schedules. To allow for such problems that pop up. But, I have found that with everyone that I have ever seen with only a rare exception. Have been the very soul of kindness and understanding. It falls back to the "Golden Rule"! Do unto others. As you would have them do unto you!
**Yes, there are misspellings and grammer errors. I'm human. . . well mostly ;p
ROtfl, never been called that before. been called a lot of things starting with jerk and working the way down. lol Even had a airman call me a world class asshole. Not just an ordinary one, a world class one. He was right, I was all over him like a duck on a junebug. But he got much better. lol
But common courtesy isnt always so common. And was wondering if the dudes felt the way I do. Not that the ladies dont have it, but do we have it?
Now I was told the by a absolutely gorgeous lady that she didnt need a call at all. She said "I trust you". Wow. That will puff a chest up. Still I still think I should have called. Just because of common courtesy. And just between you and me I love the phone voice of these ladies. Better in person though.
But as was said lots of things can happen. And I would hate to ever call to cancel a date. It is my word and I dont give that away easily. But I have got called that the lady was running late. Dang life happens. I fully expect some day to get the call that she cant make it. It wouldnt kill me as long as rescheduling is an option.
