Most of us just rush out to the grocery store and buy all of the milk and bread! That's a long term tradition that has been drilled into our heads as an absolute necessity;o)
Of course it is gradually being transformed to running out and buying all of the wine and cheese!

I can't be the only one who gets excited about snow days?
I know it is silly but I feel like a little kid at the window....
A typical snow day.. PJ's, cookies, booze, A movie, A blanket and crafts..
Yes, it is silly, I know.. but why not just embrace the day and the beauty of nature.( One that we do not see often in NC) even a day of sleet.. You gotta admit it. It is pretty for the first few hours..
French toast over the camp stove. Official breakfast of Southern snow days.

These next few days....It will bring me back to some fond childhood memories when I used to play in the snow here(north west) as a child, and now i get to share new memories with my own child. Winter Fun..Let it Snow! If you find yourself out of work for the day, go out and make a snowman......
I love the snow. Just the excitement and anticipation. It is so funny to watch other folks freak out. A nice walk in the snow in the woods is so quite and peaceful. Then the hot and and movie with Sweet Melissa would be awesome!
This is my first winter as a southern gent. At first my thoughts were "thank God , no more snow" Then around the holidays it occured to me that this might be the first winter of my life that I did not see the stuff. Found myself a little sad.
Don't get me wrong I am more than happy never again to experience "dig out" snow. But the little dusting we received in Raleigh a few days ago and what we are expecting this Tues/Weds is pretty sweet. Nothing better than sitting in a leather chair in front of a fireplace with a good brandy and watching big...wet...white flakes gently fall through the cedars. What is even better if you are snuggling with a lady who still embraces the wonderment and simplicity of a snowflake. Indeed , a little white stuff covering a fence post and hiding neglected leaves and pine cones can be rather romantic.
waiting for the first flake to fall. If I am going to be in NC and it is cold, then let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! I remember fondly the snow days growing up here in NC and it seems we had so much more snow in those days. At least I may be able to build a snowman before heading back out West.
