TIME is our most precious commodity. I've been around death all my life, from losing my childhood pets, to family, to school friends, to time in the military, barely dodging my own death, to the decades that I have been in the medical field holding hands of those whose time is down to a precious few hours,,,,,,. I have seen and experienced things that I can not explain, had stories told to me by associates of seeing and experiencing things that they did not understand. There seems to be hope of an alternate existence, however, it my desire to spend my TIME as judiciously as I can in the present) For some 10 years, I have had that life made extremely more enjoyable by the sweet, sweet ladies who I have spent my days and nights with in this so called "hobby." TIME well spent)
As I get older, my time becomes the most guarded resource. Wasting my time is a huge thing. In all walks of my life. I guard the the increasingly limited time with my family as my kids have moved away with absolute zeal. Things can be replaced - trust me I have bought my wife way too many cars (she tends to have a wreck every few years, part of who she is).
If I need to think on a problem in life, a good long run (although not in this heat) or long bike ride is the perfect place. My mind can work on multiple levels at the same time, with the endorphin kick helping my mind work out some sticky problems. Totally recommend it.
Well said my good friend! I have found as I go through this journey called Life that there is no way I can please everyone that I come in contact with..damn near impossible! At the end of the day it's how I feel about myself that makes me happy. Have I been true to myself? Life is too short to care about what other people think!!
You my friend are one of the most authentic and down to earth ladies that I have ever met. I am thankful for this "hobby" adventure that I enjoy... cause it has created the opportunity for our paths to cross 💕
Speaking as another runner (for decades now, lol), I agree with you about the value of running not just for the physical body but also the mind. The distractions of the world can fade away and the mind can work in a way that it doesn't during normal life. And you are right, time is the one element that rich and poor and everyone gets in equal quantity. It is a precious gift that should not be squandered. I like your approach to life.
First of all- isn't running the best meditation? My best thoughts/ideas come while running (or swimming, or playing Tennis)
Was just reading Felix Dennis' book, a gift from a client. He says a lot about time as the most valuable commodity. “If you are young and reading this then I ask you to remember just this: you are richer than anyone older than you, and far richer than those who are much older. What you choose to do with the time that stretches out before you is entirely a matter for you... Money is never owned. It is only in your custody for a while. Time is always running on, and the young have more of it in their pocket than the richest man or woman alive. That is not sentimentality speaking. That is sober fact.” I take it as more than just being young, but a message to say- you are getting older every second. So don't let those seconds turn into minutes, hours, days, weeks, etc. wasted by things/people/situations you can't enjoy.
