Have never been to your cities(coming next week)
Suggestions as to where I should stay please?

SouthPark Charlotte is nice and safe - there are several nice hotels.

Definitely SouthPark area or downtown.

In Charlotte, they call downtown--Uptown.  Good luck.

Stay away from uptown. Parking is terrible.

University area is OK - I only stay there if I can't find a good deal anywhere else.

I prefer south park. I don't care for airport hotels.

parking is always an issue, traffic can be a mess with the one-way streets.  Kara is right about southpark, many nice hotels.  Concord can also be a mess with the freeway construction and traffic around the mall, although the nice hotels there are south of the mall.

As to where is best to stay. I have been asked for several years to come visit and now I know where the best places are located, the parking issues and the more logistically convenient places for all involved- thank you SO much!
Little FYI? I went to BJU... Appropriate acronym- don't ya think?
